How much was that tank? Ball park. I'm looking to build and want to bury it, too. FYI, three F5's have passed within a mile of my property. Besides aesthetics, thats my motivation to bury it.

I have a 500 gal tank and did not have to burry it. Think about screening.

I placed mine about 20-30 feet into the woods, which screens it pretty well, and then angled it so I look at the end, not the side, from the house. This removes a lot of the "beached submarine" look, and keeps it in the shade.

Sounds like the consensus is to level it and leave it where it lays. I'm definitely considering that. I think the tank was about $5000 and I spent about $900 burying it. It was done to code, but a permit was not pulled, nor was it inspected. Ironically, if we had not done it to code by surrounding it with that much sand, it probably wouldn't have floated. Around here we have clay and round rocks. The sand just created a void for the water to run into. By buying the big tank, my propane price went from $3.30 to $1.94. I figure it will pay for itself in 5 years, plus the peace of mind of being able to run the generator for over a month if need be. I like the concrete on top idea, too.

One of the posted pics has a cable running over the tank. Might be cheaper then pouring concrete over it.

Do you have any locusts trees? If so, use them as a deadmans with cable strapped to tank. Your BX can handle all that digging.
