Re: 1050 with 50\" mower problem

Redid mower again; sharpened blades; set deck lower in front (1/4") replaced center blade with a standard blade. Still leaves 1/2 blade width from center blade. Now what?

Re: 1050 with 50\" mower problem

I'd pull the deck, flip it over and drop a straight edge across the two outer most spindle studs/nuts & see how that center spindle lies in relation to them.

Re: 1050 with 50\" mower problem

I checked the center blade by bringing the outer blade tips next to the center blade tip and they are in line with each other.

Re: 1050 with 50\" mower problem

At this point after reading what has already been checked and mentioned, I would (safely and carefully of course) drive the tractor up on a set of car ramps to where you can run the deck and actually see what is going on with that center blade- it would involve temporarily bypassing safety switches, etc. I kind of suspect its spindle is binding, but it's very hard to tell unless you can actually watch it. I noticed when rebuilding my 44C that the MTD made aluminum spindle housings are sensitive to the blades being properly torqued, if too tight the bearings will not spin freely. (And too loose the blades fall off- you can't win /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

The deck belt tensioners on the CC's haven't changed much since the beginning, so I'm fairly safe to say its not a design flaw there.

This is one weird problem! Hopefully you'll get it straightened out- CC decks have always been known for great cut quality on the FIRST pass!

Re: 1050 with 50\" mower problem

Okay - I posted this answer and realized I had the wrong question highlighted...
I have a 1050 with the 50" deck and 3 bag bagger. I recieved only 2 high lift blades with the bagger. The install doc's showed 3 blades. The Cub dealer said there was a recall/change in the packaging of the blades and they do want you to have 3 high lift blades for the 50" bagger. I have 3 blades on mine and have no cutting issues. It cuts fine at all hight settings. My only complaint is the fit of the bagger at the deck exit point. I mow about 3 acres and have been very pleased with the bagger and the mower in general.
