Hi Folks,

I just got my machine last night, and I promptly put four hours on it in the snow and frost. Pretty amazing how big rocks I can pick up. I had some blasting done and there are some very large rocks left over. A 30,000 excavator left some big ones which I didn't think I would be able to move, but the backhoe picked em right up! A couple of questions for you veterans. First, I ripped away for about an hour and a half at 2600 rpm's, and the hydro temp guage was pinned on zero. It's about 20 degrees, but everything felt pretty warm. Second, when driving (on gravel) and when operating the bh, it sounds like driving over dry leaves, or really creaking plastic, sound normal? I plowed through the owners manual last night and I am frankly amazed how complex the hydrauylic circuits are. I appreciate any experiences you have had.

110's are totally new to me, I saw my first one a while back going somewhere. Probably to a dealer or whatever. But how about posting some pics. of the machine. They are nice!

Deere Blake

I am spending Christmas at my brothers house, but I will post what I can when I get back. In the mean time, read the post "bushy's 110" and you will find some there.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

WOW! That was a long thread! I've never seen so many active people on one topic. Cool. I never realized just how large the 110's are and the L48's are. It's a little hard for me to imagine I guess, just because I have no desire to use such a large machine with a 3-point hitch on job sites. I won't get into that type of business. I'm more for the trackhoes, backhoes (580B's abd C's; I like those models) etc., and then using L35's and smaller for the jobs that fit those machines.

P.S. Here's my type of machine. This is what I use at work, this isn't "the" backhoe I use, I still am working on getting pics. of my machines on the net. Love case backhoes!! Sorry for off topic machine.

Whoodle,
Talk about a happy holiday!! You must be happy to have such a "big toy" to play with /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif!Congrats on the machine, I have roughly 150 hours on my 110 and I'm not quite sure what you mean by"sounds like driving over dry leaves,or really creaking plastic" some more info would help, the only
"weird" noise I have gotten outta mine has been with a full load in the bucket and putting one front wheel on an off camber so much that the other front wheel can't touch the ground it causes the frame to flex and the fan hits the radiator shroud.Other than that though it has been great.I just got a cab for it on Monday from Laurin and it is sweeet,I just have to finish installing it this week.Good luck with the machine and hope to hear from you soon!

Tags,

I'm still waiting to get the lowdown on the creature comforts of the cab. I looks like a house with a great view. I haven't been out since my post, but the sound is similar to the sounds of a hot engine as it cools off after it has shut down. I also noticed some flex with a loaded bucket, but not to the extent of fan relocation. Tell me, does your hydrotemp not register when it is cold out, or is mine on the fritz? Did you get some snow? and did come to a conclusion on a blower? In exasperation over less than steller aux flows I have gotten a Vplow for skid steers. I haven't hooked up the electrics yet, but I am hoping for results.

happy holidays

When I was removing snow from our drive with the 110 the day after Christmas, I didn't notice the temp rise much, but will pay more attention next time I'm out.

Haven't noticed any real noise when driving at full speed on the road, but did get into a porpising motion up and down every now and then which I would have to slow down to get rid of. Otherwise the 110 has been working great.

It is amazing what this little thing can pick up. I have the loader grapple attachment and can pick up whole sections of trees to move out of the way. The hoe can quickly rip out the stumps too.

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year.

The porpoising you speak of is pretty standard for all TLBs. The options are either slow down as you found, or keep it floored and ride it out. The only cure the full size TLBs have is ride control for the loader.

Just figured I'd post this here too....
I just wanted to let you guys know I got my cab on Monday,it got delivered to me around 11am and came mostly put together.I promptly unwrapped it and got the directions out ,I read through them for about 15 minuets, they are fairly vague, but good enough to get the job done.I started dis-assembling the rops on my 110 at about noon, lifted the cab up with my excavator and lowered it onto the 110 at about 1:30,had to run some errands, came back to the shop at 3,bolted the cab down, mounted the panels that close up the areas by the brake and hydro pedals, and re-mounted the original 110 roof to the cab by 6pm.So roughly 5 hrs to get the main cab mounted, but,I still need to hook up the heater hoses to the motor(which there are ports for),hook up the power to the battery, and install the backhoe portion of the cab.As far as fit and finish of the cab it is excellent,it looks factory and nothing on it is hoakey.I do have a few things that could be improved though right off the bat,the fuel cap is now fairly tricky to remove,it needs to be positioned just right to get it off once it is unscrewed,I can no longer see my level indicator there is a piece of sheet metal blocking my view so I'm going to cut it away with a hole saw and glue a piece of glass over the opening, the heater and electrics are already installed which is great, but they ran the electric lead for the battery down on the right side and the battery is on the left,I think these are all minor things considering the big picture and are easily fixed. So if you need a cab and want it to look like it came with the machine this is the one as long as you have the dough for it,I think it is well worth it.

Whoodle,
I haven't had much time to continue installing the cab since we got pounded with snow on Christmas, which means I was plowing from 11pm Christmas night till 6pm the next day,all of you who wished for a white Christmas,I hope you're all happy!!I did have time to hook up the heater hoses to the motor and the electrical leads to the battery,so the main cab portion is done.I also had to move some snow and load some sand with it after everything was hooked up,my first impressions of operating it with the cab on are good, heat is nice to have when it's freezin' outside, the visibility is still very good, seeing the bucket is just as good as it was before, like I said in the previous post the only real down fall is not being able to see the level indicator. After I "played" for awhile I re-connected the hoe and brought the machine back inside so I could look at installing the hoe portion of the cab. From the looks of it,installing it should not take too long, but in order to install it they want you to remove the grab bars that go around the levers for the hoe. Most of it unbolts but the front portion(closest to the stabilizer levers) needs to be cut.My only problem with this is the fact that by installing the cab on the hoe will be very nice in the winter, fall, and early spring but realy limits your ability to "jump" off the rear of the machine since only the rear window comes off and side windows do not.My plan was to remove the windows on the cab in the summer anyway and also to remove the hoe portion of the cab,so I think I'm gonna weld some tabs on the portion of the grab bars that I cut so I could bolt the whole thing back on.

As far as a blower goes,I really haven't made a decision.I really like the idea of the V plow,I have a Boss V on my truck and love it,no problems getting through the heavy snow. What kind did you get for your machine and how much was it? My dealer where I bought my 110 has one made by Kwik-Way but hasen't gotten back to me with a price.Once you hook yours up you'll love it,so many more options than a regular plow, being able to scoop with it is the cats meow!

On a side note,I recieved a digital camera for Christmas so I'll finally be able to get some pics of the whole thing hopefully by the end of the week.

I got the Boss Plow with hydraulic tilt so that I could use it for light dozing as well. I also looked into KW and Loegring but the Boss was the most accessible in my region. It was about 3300 all told, but I didn't bargain at all because I had some more pressing problems at the time. I just got back, so I haven't finished the install. My main concern is the 950 lbs sticking so far forward when I don't have the bh on. The list prices I got on the Logering and the KW were 37 and 29+ship respectively. and the KW did not offer hydraulic tilt. I spoke to the engineer at Boss, and we decided that I could just unbolt the tilt cylinder for float. I would still like to see how the hydraulics would work on a front blower, But I'm skeptical enough that I won't pay to play.

Whoodle,
To start, your question about the hyd temp gauge, mine always registers, even if its just warmin' it up it moves about an eighth of an inch, and when I'm really workin' it hard it is in the middle to upper portion of the gauge,so it sounds like it may need some attention. The boss plow is real nice, simple too, which is why I got one for my truck,so I think I will look into going that route as well. How do they hook up the valving to get it to do all the functions, did they supply an electric diverter valve? Also thought I'd add this, when I was loading sand without the hoe on, the machine was very tippy, more side to side than front to back, granted I had the 4n1 bucket on with a heaping load of sand loading a sander,so the bucket was high, but I managed to get it on three wheels,a bit un-nerving,and keep in mind also that I have an additional 220lbs of wheel weights on the rear,it may be fine with just the plow but I'd imagine if you're gonna do any loader work you'll need additional weight out back,it probably would only help when plowing too though. As far as thefront blower goes, that would definetely be the way to go,but like you, I don't want to be the guinneapig to shell out the doe just to see it doesn't work well.I've actually asked my dealer to try one out on one of their 110's just to see what it would do,but I haven't heard anything yet,and probably won't,but thats the way it goes I guess.

The Boss has three solenoid valves in the plow frame which operate 2 wings and the hydraulic tilt. There is a three toggle lighted control box in the cab. The scv switch on the loader stick operates whichever cylinders are activated on the toggle. I haven't removed the bh to check the weight balance yet, but I also have a Curtis spreader which could add 3-400 lbs to the rear hitch if necessary.

It's been a while since I've had anything significant to say, still don't, but twhat the hey. Old Joe didn't want to be the Guinee pig with one of those blowers either. Erskine has the only one that could possibly work. But I think only at a crawl. J D wasn't thinking snow blowers for the 110. It's pretty minimal compared to a skid steer. I thought a front mount run by the rear pto would suffice. I've got a 7' heavy duty bucket on the front of it now. Haven't used it much though. I ordered chains. I don't like all that spinning. I have a Fisher V plow mounted on my one ton dually and it works real good although not as rugged as my old Diamond was, but a lot easier to operate with that joy stick. I don't think I want to plow with the 110. We just don't get big enough storms. For me a bucket will do the what I want it to do. That is pile up snow. I think I will have sides welded on it in order to pick up more snow. I got a soft cab but not the greatest fit, but it keeps the wind off me. I don't work my stuff commercially , it's this income producing real estate that I have to maintain. Once that's done along with a few pro bonos I go home and sit by the wood stove . That sure sounds easy when you just keyboard it down. Happy New Year .

Today one of the salesmen from the Deere dealer that Tags used showed up at the house today. I'm trying to cut some kind of deal with them. I'll have to wait a few days and see what shakes out. Those 100's sure are pricey.

I was wondering if the JD rep ever came out to see you for the 150 hr review. I think your letter idea is a good one, so tell me who you're writing to and I will follow. Maybe Bushey can add as well.

Whoodle,
The rep never made it,said he would come out in the spring,I hope he does,it would be nice to speak with him.As far as sending the letter I haven't quite figured out who to send it to yet,I want to make sure it gets to someone who will be able to relate to it at JD.I do have an engineers name at JD who headed the 110,I have to check his card to see if it has a mailing address,if it does thats where I'm sending it,I'll let you know.I will definetely send a copy of my letter to my dealer also, so they are on the same page if JD contacts them, they have been very good to me and I will let JD know that too.

whoodle, what was the outcome of your issue with your temp gauge? I just had my 110 TLB delivered today and it has exactly the same issue.
