12 hour shift work

Any shift workers out there ? I work a 12 hour shift with lots of days off,anyone else work a 12 hour shift?

Yea, every day! Its called being self-employed! I haven't taken a vacation in 5 years. And every time I think I'm doing good I got a bill for a few grand that is due in a week! Everyone thinks that you are rich just because you own your own business, they just don't know how much work it is!

Boy you are so right there Von! I get so sick and tired of that mentality. People don't realize that after the doors are closed you've still got a couple of hours of work left not to mention dealing with employees, govt., etc. One of the things I think people should have to do is run their own business just so they have a little respect for what actually goes on. I rarely take a vacation as well. We went on our first one this last year in the past nine years. That was because I had never taken my wife for a honeymoon. The day after we got married I had to take state boards.

12hr shift. Must be nice to have 1/2 the day off.. I am 24x7x365.

Whoa 24x7x365 you getting paid a lot of overtime I hope!!Yeah I have worked it for 18 years,14 days off out of 28,I get plenty of time to work around the homestead,then through in about 240 hours of vacation and you are talking lots of weeks off. Life is good!!!!

I will keep my 21 hour per week and that is concidered a heavy load. You know you need time to think.

I worked 12 hour shifts for 21 years with the P. D. I loved the 4 12 hour shifts and 3 days off, also got 8 hours overtime every week. It also made sheduling the officers a lot easier.

Only 4,10hr days mostly...somedays end up longer than others...10pm-8am Sun night to thurs morn.Off thurs,fri,sat and all day sun...If I could only go without sleep on Sunday.I take a nap thur morn for an hr or so and go out and hop on da tractor or just play on the yard...so I get allday thur,fri,sat.I tend to stay up all day and night on sat,(often take another 1hr or 2 nap)but hit the hay around 1pm on sundays...Gota sleep some time....at work now....

Lake Viking? Where is Lake Viking? The Lutters that I am related to are from South Dakota around Red Field. There is a John Lutter, lots of them of different generations. I need more information about this John Lutter.

Lake Viking is a small community outside Gallatin Mo. which is about 70 miles north and east of Kansas City.John and his wife Sharon have lived there 4-5 years.I just thought there might be an outside chance you would know of them, considering your local.

Mitchell, home of the "Corn Palace". Pretty cool. I have a friend who pastored a church in Presho. Vacationed in the Black Hills with his family a few years back. Very pretty country.
