To start "aging" another battery is not worth it. Put a connector output pigtail on the tractor so you don't have to open the hood.

I got my two filters connected inline and pressure tested. Works well. I also added a shutoff valve between the pump and the filters.

I would have put the water separator bowl first then the filter. Is there something I an missing looking at the picture?

That sounds like a good idea.

This is my 50gal setup. When it needs to be refilled, I pick it up with my forks and load it in my truck. I'd guess it at around 500lbs.
I use less than 50gal per year.

How many hrs a year do you use your tractor? I mowed 23 acres of heavy pasture, took me 15 hrs and 50 gallons of diesel! The poor guy at the loading dock where I get my dyed diesel wouldn't know my name if I only used 50 gallons a year!

I work in aviation in remote areas at times, A couple things, the filters go the other way, the water coalescer filter goes first, Second, if you are in an area with humidity, the air inside will sweat and the water will settle out on the bottom, so have it tilted so you can drain it,, I posted on how to make a sock up that will draw water off the bottom in the fuel and oil section.. Also, you have to prevent sparks. the hose that comes with some pumps is called farm hose, and as no bonding wires inside the hose. You need to ensure there is continuity from the nozzle through the hose-tank-ground.. You can check it with a multi meter..

One thing is for sure.
If transferring gasoline you want everything grounded or BOOM.
Simply touching the nozzle to the filler can ignite gas fumes.
Fuel is more forgiving.
As to filters, well an old felt hat is probably the most efficient filter made. (if U can find one)
