#1 What size implements can I use? I planned on getting a 5' Bush Hog, but can I use a 6'? The manual I got with the tractor does not give max. weights of implements. I will get Bush Hog brand.
#2 When using the shuttle shift to change directions, the manual says that I don't have to come to a complete stop. I am guessing that means that I can clutch, move handle to the other direction and let the clutch out while the tractor is still moving slowly. How slow is slowly and is it better to go ahead and just stop.

You could use a 6' hog, but in heavy stuff it is better to have the 5'. I would suggest the 5' as the best size for the tractor.

I guess that you have the manual shuttle. I can't remember anything anymore. Anyway, if it is the manual shuttle, you do as you said. As you are coming to a stop, go ahead and clutch, then flip the lever. Just before it actually does stop, you can start releasing the clutch.

Mark, I also agree with Jerry on the 5' bushog and I have the shuttle and yes you can clutch move the lever then release while still rolling...

Another nice feature is since it has the throttle pedal I use it alot for loader work, the shuttle is really sweet for that... But if mowing or any other PTO driven chore its throttle lever for the most part... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mark, Is there a place, book or website that I can find info on max. implement sizes for the tractor? The Kubota I had had a chart in the manual to tell max weights for different implements. I am looking to get a tiller and finish mower when funds allow. I can trade my Bush Hog at my local dealer for a 5'.

Mark , I don't know of any books or sites that give the tractors max capacity for bushog's or other implements, but the basic guide lines are 5hp(pto) per foot of implement used so for a 6' bushog you would want 30 PTO hp or there abouts... Also as Jerry was saying that a 6' would work fine unless you are going to be getting into heavy stuff ie; a stand of 2" saplings where you would be cutting more than one or two at a time... I you don't have a situation similar to that , I think I would just keep my 6' Hog... For a finish mower I would definately go for a 6 footer because you will(should) be only cutting grass...less strain.... And on the tiller my opinion would be no larger than 60" due to the 8x8 trans which doesn't have a creeper gear, Anything bigger you might have trouble in heavy clay trying to chew more dirt at the speed it will be moving, For the Bushog and finish mower that is my experience and on the tiller(I don't have one YET) Its my opinion, but when I buy it will be 60" /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Most of this is just common sense /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Depending on how much you have to mow, I would stay with the 6 foot hog. You can always take a narrower cut if it starts to bog you down a lot. You can always make a 6 foot mower into a 5 footer, but you can never make a 5 footer into a 6ft. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You are correct. Clutch, and then shift to forward or reverse while rolling.
