May as well go clean up the few inches of snow today. No plowing or pushing for the near future.

We are expecting a couple 6 inches tomorrow night. It looks like the high on Friday may make it into positive numbers but we'll see. The weekend doesn't look any better. We don't often get much snow when the temps are below 15 degrees or so. It's the only time when I would want a cab.

You guys are nuts. I’d be eating ramen noodles and making soup with an old leather shoe for a cabbed tractor up there. I can’t believe that, don’t even know what that cold would be like. It’s 24 here and everyone is in crisis mode

I am way, WAY farther north than the OP, but getting similar weather. In fact our lows are only around -5 because the lake is close to my house and still un-frozen. But I've had a few days so far when I was snowblowing at 0 or less, and it sure is brisk when atomized snow gets in your face at those temperatures (no cab, and wouldn't want one 80% of the time). A nice full face balaclava and ski goggles worked pretty well though. This morning it was +5 when I cleared the latest 8" off the driveway.

We're on a typical to moderately heavy winter pace right now, and getting about 2 feet of powdery new snow each week. A small town 15 miles SW of me set an all time snow record (for the county) in December with 119" recorded by a trained observer. Six months ago I wasn't sure if I wanted or *needed* a snowblower, but I got one and it was totally worth it.

Does help to ward off cabinet taste of fresh air.
If you be so kind not to send those temps our way.

I was really nice to see the temp over 20 here today. Gave me a chance to flush the heater core in my plow truck. Sucks not having heat in it but good for a few weeks hopefully. This winter sure has been odd. Snow coming tomorrow.

We haven't had heavy snow for a week so my plowing is caught up and I can enjoy the cold weather in other ways. On the bright side, we are getting some good ice fishing in this year. We had fresh bluegill and catfish last night for supper. And a huge pile of hand cut french fries from our bumper crop of potatoes this year. Good food always warms my spirits. Come to think of it, good spirits warm my spirits too! ;)

Lucky you. Normally our high would be 20 this time of year, but we've been mostly single digits for 4 weeks now. I haven't seen 20 or higher since around December 7. Our trucks are parked outside because one garage bay has my tractor (so the snowblower can melt and dry off a bit between uses) and the other has a construction project. The trucks are getting cold soaked to the point where things don't work. Crazy winter. (We will have them inside before too long - brand new house with lots of lingering projects taking up space.)

No joke, at my last house in Marquette I would grill on the back deck down to 20 degrees. Often I had to shovel snow off for 10-15 minutes before I could reasonably access the grill. Not doing that here because it's windier and more snow, just not realistic right now.

Don't think this is a tale of woe, I actually like winter. But this climate definitely is not for everyone.

I admire you guys up north...
We are freezing down here in NC and it's 20 degrees warmer than what a lot of you have...
I keep pestering my wife for a cabbed tractor...

Hey, 14F is a good temperature to plow. Snow is dry, crisp & hard. Will not stick to the rear blade. I HATE plowing when the temps are in the upper 20's to low 30's.

Ahh, I remember those days snowplowing on the open tractor in a full snowmobile suit with full face helmet. Even with gear it was cold and somehow the wind always blows towards you! Went to a cabbed tractor and wouldn't go back, now I plow in a tee shirt and have to turn the heat down. Jim P.

19°F here this morning, temp started to drop already with the impending storm. They're talking about getting down to 8°F, 35mph winds, and potential of 4-8" of snow. Should be a grand 'ol time!

I’m in the banana belt of the Keewenaw, and every time I go to town and see those miserable looking people using walk behind snowblowers or open station riding mowers / blowers/ atv’s and such, I get a smile on my face.

Factory cab with a front mounted blower was the best investment I made so far this season.

Having said that, I’ll be heading to California in a few weeks to escape and thaw out.

Warmed up the tractor and started plowing the 6+ inches already down. It was in the low 20's, very windy and still snowing. I'll probably be out tonight or early tomorrow morning after the storm ends. These times make me appreciate the cab even more.

We are supposed to get another 8 inches of global warming. Temps in the teens. May hit 30 on Sunday. If it does I am breaking out the crocks.

Z Michigan,
Added a cab this year, no regrets, much winter left and the many single digit temp days are not kind to these old bones. Still have a snow blower on an open station because blower to narrow for wide tires on the cab Kabota, but the snow pusher on the FEL with warm air from the ceiling vents exceeds all my expectations.
