Well, I got the radio installed this weekend. Talk about a tight fit! It was bitterly cold and I ended up cracking the headliner slightly near the upper lefthand corner of the radio. Boy does that tick me off! I'm not sure how I can fix it either...
I mounted the antenna on the left side pillar down low near the fender right where the plugged holes were. Reception is....marginal. I can get the classic rock station based out of Springfield, MA but I can't pick up the country station (while moving) that's based in the same city!
The CD player works well though.![]()
Glad you got it installed, sorry to hear about your crack. I should have mentioned earlier that I noticed a very small crack in each top corner of my radio opening when I had it out to look at the wires. At first I was upset with the installer, cause I figured they would spread quickly with the weight of the radio on the headliner. But after I saw how the weight of the radio sits on the metal shelf above the headliner, rather than being supported by the headliner, I told myself it would be OK and not crack any farther. I hope I am right
I wonder if your weak reception is because your antenna mast is right beside the steel pillar. I think that could absorb or reflect the signal and kill your reception. To check you could remove the antenna and hold it up above the cab and see if it improves.
How about that back?
