Hey gang,

I need to get a replacement ignition for my 1500d. Does anyone know if there is a JD part that would do the job?

Uh...since these are Diesels, I assume you mean the key switch?

Any of the dealers listed here or who post here should be able to helkp you with that. I bought mine from Hoye............

I bought a key switch from Hoye as well. Esaies way to locate the switch is to do an (ignition) search on their main page.

I bought a spare key for my 155d from a john deere dealer. I got two for under 6 bucks same key other than the deere one it. I just took the key i had to them and they matched it up. So maybe they have ingnition to.

You could use a good (heavy) 7/8" universal ignition switch from any auto parts store. You'll want a four position switch if you use the thermo-start.

The univeral switch makes sense to me. My 1500D uses a separate switch for the thermostart, so a four-posititon switch would not be required, though.

But why not put it back the way Yanmar intended it? I don't think there's much difference in price to have an actual Yanmar switch with the thermostart built in...............and they're easy to come by, just contact Hoye or any of the dealers who post here, I'll bet any of them can supply you with the right switch, and quickly.

Thermostart was an option on most "00" models as I understand it, and it is not uncommon to see 1500s without it, as well as 1500s with a pushbutton that activates the thermostart.
