Howdy,

Looks good.

Hello Mike
Thank you. It's been on the farm here for over 30 years but idle for about the last 10 years. . It was an upgrade from a 135 we had from about 1973. Very agile compared to a 1982 188 we also had so it was first choice for the routine tasks during spring and summer like tillage, rolling fields, mowing and tedding hay, drawing in grass to the pit, backing up grass silage, slurry spreading etc. during winter it drove the barley grinder weekly.
All in all a busy tractor in its day.

I remember a friends 4 year old once telling me about helping his dad on his Massey! When I asked him if he would like to see my Massey he was really excited. That was short lived when he saw the 165 in its dilapidated state!
I don't know what was worse, his disappointment that it wasn't shiny like his dads nice modern 6000 series or my dismay at the reaction!
(one of many funny or endearing tales this tractor brings to mind)

On the other hand my little boy loved the old wreck and loved sitting on it!! Wait til he sees it completed!

Young man with a taste for any old massey. Not against a bit of blue though. We have a family friend retired from a lifetime as a Ford/New Holland sales man who loves to try convince him than blue is better but at 5 years old he is firmly in the classy massey camp!

Howdy Padraig,

Fine looking young'in you got there and thats a nice Ford. I have a 3 year old who loves John Deere and I'm always trying to convert him. I have some old tractors down in the barn and climbs all over them like a monkey. All my tractors look pretty rough. I do hope to fix up my Massey.

What county are you located in? I had family come from Donegal back in 1820 give or take a few years. I would like to vist one day.

Good luck with your tractor and have a good day.

I borrowed the Ford for a charity road run last summer. It was the spur for me to finish the 165! Unfortunately it was sold soon after.
I'm from County Longford in the north midlands. I know Donegal as I used visit with an uncle there as a child for summer holidays and now I visit customers all over the county.
It is one of the most scenic areas in Ireland. I would highly recommend that trip!!

Curious if you fixed or replaced the fenders

They are replacements. The old ones were quite rotting in several places. I tried a couple of repair guys but they wouldnt consider it. I wanted initially to keep all original but got a set of replacements at good money and sprayed them up. All other panels are the original ones.

I finally took the 165 for a long run yesterday. Happy to report no leaks. Running like clockwork. All it needs now is the bonnet stickers, which I will get this week.

Great job. I love it when someone brings one of these old classics back to original like luster. Thanks for sharing. -kid
