Picked up this machine today, Idealarc 300. I didn't realize these old girls had hot start!

Can't quite make out what the last pic shows. Is that the hot start control? What kind of input power would that take at max output?

Never thought Lincoln used any other color than red.

Yes that is the Arc boost dial / "hot start".
The manual says on 220-volt, 104-amp input. I'm looking for a new SO cord now, to replace the one that came on it. I'll set it up on my 90-amp breaker. I ran my old Miller 330A/BP on that breaker for years and never through the breaker.
I think these things first came out red, then went to gray. Can't believe orange is the original color.

WAY COOL:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool2::drool: That would have been a top of the line stick machine in the 70's or 80's let alone 1937. A forerunner to the Idealarc TIG 300/300. I bet collectors would pay a lot of money for it. One of the welding supplies here as a big old Lincoln buzz box on display about the same size and it is red. I doubt orange is the original color but maybe who ever painted it was an Airco fan??? It looks in amazingly good shape for it's age. That machine is proof Lincoln doesn't like change much. I think they still use the same style push buttons to turn it off and on, on some new machines.

"Never thought Lincoln used any other color than red."

I think they went through a few gallons of gray paint. ;)

Playing with the machine a little bit this morning. She doesn't stack to bad for a 76-year old:D. Vertical up hill, 5/32-inch 6010, 4-inch pipe, 5-G.
