Those Dodges are beautiful, a real timeless classic of industrial design.
There is one at the equator monument (a small tourist village) at the equator in Ecuador.
This one has a passenger bus structure on the back of a cab/chassis identical to yours.
I asked our 30ish host if he had ever seen one like it in bus service.
His reply amused me - "That's a party bus. It has a killer stereo. [the banner on the roof rack says KENWOOD down both sides]. They (rich people's kids) hire it for the evening, crank up the stereo full blast, drive around and pick up each kid at his home, then drive all over Quito blasting music late into the night. Every kid who hears it wishes he were on the party bus."
He didn't know anything about its history in transport service.
Present generation busses in Ecuador are like busses anywhere, and the previous generation was mostly ordinary US school busses shipped down there. This Dodge must have been what preceded that.
Barry: That transmission sound is unforgetable. I haven't heard one for many years but I can hear it now precisely.
