Hey, thanks for letting me in. I'm definitely new as this is my first tractor. It runs great but someone stole the radiator out of it. It has the rear quick tach instead of the 3 pt. I have a few questions that are probably pretty easy for most of you.

What sickle bar works best with the M?

Do I need to convert to a 3 pt?

Does the tractor have to be in gear and moving for the pto to engage?

Does anyone know where I can get a good used radiator...I see reproductions for sale online for around $400 or so but I would rather find an original used one.

Thanks for any help you've got,
Brent Johnson

A No. 5 semi-mount will fit, but there was a integral one made for the rear and one for the middle. My brother has the one on the back for his M. His is a 47 also. You can probably do best by going to Googlre and typing in 1947 M radiator. There a re a host of places where you can get one. Wengers may have a used one. Good luck.

A true three point wasn't available on the M, might have to improvise, the PTO is transmission driven, you must have the clutch out for the PTO to work.
Enjoy your classic JD, I've used a 420 (M with 2 generations of improvements) to finish mow for 12 years now.
