1949 Farmall Cub Implements

   / 1949 Farmall Cub Implements #21
Rob - Here's what I came up with at lunch.

Drawbar planters: 7 different models are belly mount and two are rear mount(#201-2 row drill planter and #435-4 row veggie planter).

Fast hitch planters: 2 models #182 and #184.....of course rear mount.

11 different planters each with its own model number. The Cub was/is quite a versatile little machine. By the time you add up all the variations of implements made available by IH and the aftermarket over it's 32 year production, there's probably over 50 different Cub implements. C

Rob - Sorry, I can't comment on the difficulty of mid-mount implements. The only mid mount item I have would be the grader blade but I've only used it up front to plow snow. The rest are the fast hitch type which are very easy.

I see you've been to the Cub sites. They would be the best places to get comments on mounting and the level of difficulty. C

Hello, I joined just last night as I found this picture/thread in google images...

I have read many of the posts, and hardly can understand what your all talking about , the back view of the cubs look different to me, so I'm not sure just wear the "hitch bar" goes on my particular model: a 1953 (J). I will have to come back and try to find the links given for purchasing the correct hitch, or fabricating one if possibly? I had seen a photo of what looked to be a flat stock, with different size holes for towing. Yet in Worksmart's photo, he has what looks like a round bar (pipe) low running from side to side. In my photo you can see the " mower bar" I tried to tow from; yet it yanked the bolts down on my lawnmower when I tried to use it. Please excuse my ignorance in this matter, I just want to be able to hitch something to the rear without shifting my hydraulic mower around. Can some one clarify what particular type attachment (Towing Bar) is needed and wear to place it, so it doesn't effect my Wood Bros mower please?

I can't remember what the drawbar on the Cub looked like, but we ran Farmall H's and M's of the same vintage on the farm when I grew up. I'd guess the design of the Cub was somewhat similar. If you Google "farmall cub" and look at the images, only a few of them show the rear with a drawbar. Of them, this seems the most likely:

Several images show this crossbar, but only a couple show the actual drawbar like this one.

This looks like the anchor point for the drawbar:

Here's a closer view:

The design of the bigger tractors was similar, except they didn't have the dropped wheel housings, so the crossbar on them mounted on the rear casting instead on the housings on the side like here.

Any body know how to install hydraulic lines on a 1946 McCormick farmal cub, I would like to hook up a small log splitter. Thanks

The Cub doesn't have a large enough hyd. oil reservoir to do that. You'd be better off building a PTO driven pump splitter, and along with that, a PTO speed reducer, as the PTO runs the same RPM's as the engine on a Cub. And someone correct me if I'm wrong, they turn the opposite direction of a normal PTO.

I'm thinking a hydraulic pump under a load, hooked direct, would knock it to it's knee's pretty quick. They are only 9 hp, factory fresh, on a good day. For that kind of money, you could build an independant single cylinder engine driven pump for the splitter.

On the other hand, the Cub will make a dandy tow vehicle, to pull the splitter.
