1949 Ford 8N resto project

Finally on my way home today. SOH said I have a garage full of boxes that need to be taken care off ASAP :laughing:
Because this one is such a mix and match I decided to just keep it so I will be replacing a lot of parts with new/aftermarket to make it a solid working tractor and also look really good.
The bad news 700 for the tractor and over 2000.00 worth of parts and tires later I will definitely be in the hole, but it will be solid and should last for many many more years:cool2:

Also to update, we did use TSC paint on the other 8n, this one will be done with New Holland red and Tisco medium grey.

SOH is happy since all the boxes have been cleared out.:laughing: and a view of some of the parts. I am really looking forward to a full day in the shop tomorrow. So much to do:confused2:

Made some progress today. Still in the deconstruction phase but overall a lot accomplished. I managed to find a pair of script fenders and some doglegs that are all in fantastic shape so it will be easy to bring up to par. Also, the Tisco TP 240 medium gray and the rim, silver and hardener arrived:cool2:

Bad news, manifold is showing serious pitting on the after end nesr cylinder number 4:thumbdown: Going to look into resurfacing but more than likely will have to be replaced

Will be picking up the red paint at the local Ford dealer in Ocala tomorrow morning and hope to get back quickly as I plan to do the rear end seals and brakes and possibly get started installing the Sherman Combo tomorrow....gonna be another long day.

Say, soundguy, guess ya know we are in for a wet weekend in Florida...ya feel like coming over and lending a hand willing to feed you and yours well if you can make it.

If you know anyone with a mill and a big shell cutter you can give that a shot at the resurface. Did that with both manifolds on my Ford 5500.

Managed to make a little progress in the last couple of days. A long time friend and a brother to one of my dearest friends passed away this morning so morale is a bit on the low side but life goes on. He will always be cherished and remembered. If you get a chance, have a toast in his memory..RIP Skip Robinson...I am going to miss you my friend.

Managed to strip and prep the hood, doglegs and fenders for sheetmetal work. Painted the gas tank, front rims and did a little prep work on some small parts. The basket is starting to come along. Hope to start on the brakes and the Sherman in the next couple of days.

Brakes are done. Front axle shim washers and bearings arrived. Spindles are ready to assemble with new bushings and thrust bearings and all spindle bearings and seals. Got the front tires swapped over to the new rims and had new tires installed on the rears.

I need to get it back into a rolling mode so I can move it out of the garage and into the other shed to finish stripping all the old paint from the main body and hopefully split it and install the Sherman.
