Was using my 3000 to fix a rutted driveway and when using the loader with some down pressure to back drag, the drive coupler and pump shaft gave up the ghost.

I had already backwoods repaired it with a new coupler and installed set screws in the coupler but the pump shaft is just to worn. rhino+ ford Ford is broken 008.JPG rhino+ ford Ford is broken 002.JPG
Tried to find a new shaft last year and the only ones i could find were $360+ so tried the cheap method and i did get just about a years use out of the loader.

Couple of days ago I found what appears to be the right part from proactivefluidpower for $54.90 - Including shipping!!

So here goes -ordered the parts today: a new main shaft, coupler, the seal kit and the new pump shaft... parts total just under $200 not including new hydraulic oil and will probably replace the in loader frame filter assembly... hope it all comes together.

a tractor with a dead FEL that is not easily removable makes for a fairly useless tractor, time to fix it

i will try and post some pictures of the repair if time permits.

Thanks Soundguy

figured I was getting lucky today when the pump shaft and drive shaft showed up -

also thought the seal kit was going to be here today to- but no Joy. Other wise i could have started on the pump shaft replacement after pump clean up and dissassembly...

At least it looks like the parts will work so far and it is obvious just how worn the pump shaft actually was when compared to the new one. Ford 730 loader parts 001.jpg

Also i will also need to shorten the drive shaft... hopefully the rest will show up next week

well every thing showed up today so-

got started after picking up a new bearing, and pressing it onVickers pump repair 002.jpg and secured the bearing with the small snap ring

Installed the end seal, pressed the shaft/bearing in and then finally installed the large snap ring
installed the large o rings and installed the alignment dowels, sandwiched the assembly

- torqued the bolts to 75lbs. Then a quick coat of engine paint, Vickers pump repair 005.JPG out of time

a few things left tomorrow and will hopefully have a working loader.

It looks great, Happy to see it all came together for you. Did you buy all your parts from proactivefluidpower or just the splined shaft?

Edit: I just looked it up, that place is right down the street from work.

as far as the other parts i don't know whether proactivefluidpower carries them or not,

I had already ordered parts from some of the places that i had bought from in the past like yesterdays tractors, when i found the shaft on Ebay

I had called proactive fluidpower to help make sure the shaft was the right one for my pump by using the #s off of mine- and my pump was listed as a tapered shaft pump not the 13 spline one ,so at some point it had been modified to work in the Ford application and Kathy Aiquinto helped sort it out.

She actually sent me a thank you and a request to contact her personally if there were any problems. It fit perfectly and as i posted above they had this for under $60 including shipping and everywhere else i could find the part was over $360, so i am very happy I purchased from them- Great service

she's all back together, it took a little longer because i had to deal with another worn part- the axle pivot pins threads are shot and the bolt that held the pivot pin retainer broke

Being cheap i just decided to drill and tap 3 smaller holes and make another holding plate- its not pretty but it should work,-although time will tell.

And the test to lift the tractor front end off the ground worked- vickers pump repair Success 001.jpg

For Ford tractors with a 730 loader and Vickers pump- needing some replacement parts here are some #s

Vickers v20 pump 13 spline shaft 324047 from proactivefluidpower
hydraulic drive shaft 10 3/8" 7/8 13 spline 292222
solid hub 13 spline 7/8 3 7/8 hole spacing 291315
hub with flexible bushings CNNN879A
Viton seal kit 920371
Bearing for pump shaft SK 6204 or 204

While this isn't everything one may need -it may save a little time looking for part #s on some of what is needed...

don't feel bad. that's the type of repair I call 'the ugly girlfriend'

it may be ugly.. but if it gets the job done.. it gets the job done...
