Oh yea, I did get the IC7SB here in VA in was $18.39 vs $28.00 I agree one was 1 year warranty and the other was 3 year

I think i'm going to bow out now. This is getting a bit redundant.....

when we were talking about coils. I quoted an IC8 for 6v systems. A IC14SB for 12v systems. IC8 has no internal resistor, and is for 6v. IC14SB has no internal resistor and is for 12v.

An IC7 / SB is also a 6v coil and HAS NO INTERNAL RESISTOR and is meant for 6v systems

If you run any 6v coil on 12v you have to add external resistance.

check the coil wire where it hits the coil.. BEFORE the primary of the coil.

This is my last post to this thread.

Sorry for annoying you. It was not meant for any other reason than to explain to you that the 6 volt IC7SB that I purchased is clearly stamped on the plastic that it has an internal resistor and NO external resistor was needed. I truly thought that I was helping NOT annoying you. Thanks for all of your help any ways

you will not find an internal resistor inside that ic7 if you cut it open. what you will fins is enough turns of primary wire at correct length and gauge.. to be fine with native 6v with no series resistance.

that's what I'm trying to point out. what do they have printed on the box or coil? I'm curious to what they have translated from english to spanish to chinese and back before it hits the printer.

a pic would be usefull...

Again, PLEASE accept my apology. It says "6 volt, No external resistor required". As I stated before, I am by far an electrician neither home or automotive. YOU are the go to guy when it comes to that. You have explained to me what it is saying, meaning that there is NO resistor in the coil it is simply manufactured so as to operate with the system that I have. I am also clear as to how to check the voltage after closing the point gap. I hope that I have not offended you. PS: We are having a huge storm right now and I was standing in pouring rain, thunder and lightning to write this down word for word for you. Taking a pic was not really an option.

See.. it tells you exactly .. read it for what it means. don't read anything else into it.

it is literally telling you that it is a 6v coil.. and to run on 6v, no external resistor is required.

it is not saying 'internal resistor'

it is as i thought it was...

no pic needed.

be safe in the storm.
