1975 1120 injector pump advice

I have a 1975 1120 and the injector pump is leaking. The local diesel shop said it is a “CAV” type unit and would rebuild it for $400-up depending what was wrong. He said buying new was stupid expensive but I’ve found some new pumps that claim to fit for $600 or so but I’m unsure of their compatibility because my pump has no data plate visible(while installed anyways?)

I’ve attached a few pictures and I’m hoping someone here can tell me more about what kind of pump I have.

If you carefully remove paint on plate attached to your tractor's IP you should be able to read pump ID info. JD did sell aerosol paint remover that would remove the paint. JD part # is AR91772 which cross references to DPA3432F530;

Going to attempt some light scraping with a razor blade but not sure where to go if that doesn’t work

He said that price starts at 400 but made it clear that if he found no old/worn parts in my 40 yr old pump.......

So did some gentle wet sanding and it seems stamped




I’m unsure which is a model number or otherwise.

The bottom number seems to have a number finished with an etch tool suggesting it’s a serial number.


Here are the numbers best as I can read them left to right , top to bottom.

WALMART has spray stripper IN A CAN.. GET SOME.. spray it on, wipe it off..
ANY parts house will sell it..
Your missing a #.. 343290 is the pump #..

so now u have the pump #..
So now u have some options..get a new one or get yours rebuilt.

Diesels seem way too expensive to bother with. the injection pump is the main problem, it's crazy expensive to even have it looked at!..

Do you have any vendors you would personally recommend for a new one?

new is new.. weather its aftermarket new or oem new.. OEM new will cost in the 1000.00 range
but why would someone opt to spend the money for an aftermarket new pump,{600.-700} when they can have the original
pump repaired for 2-300.00 less.??
Most people only do that if their pump is deemed unrepairable..
I know folks that have opted to fix their original pump, even tho it will cost the same as a new aftermarket pump..

Really? I've been custom farming/baling since 1987. I've rd baled over 150,000 rd bales, plowed/seeded unknown 1000's of acres while owning 8 different diesel powered tractors. I had to have 1 inj pump resealed about 30 yrs back & I have another inj pump on a tractor that has about 13,000 hrs of use that needs resealed today. The secret to inj pump life is to """keep fuel clean"""!! I filter fuel before it goes in tractor fuel tank & change tractor fuel filters.
