Well, I've now made about 20 trips to the local materials yard with my old '75 dump and I have to say it's starting to earn it's keep. I have one rather large hill (we don't have mountains where I live, but it's as close as we do have) between me and the yard. I could go around it, but it adds about 20 minutes per trip. As long as I don't get in a hurry, the old 366 gasser will pull the full 9 1/2 tons it will legally haul and keep up with the speed limit. I could probably haul another 4 or 5 tons more, but it would be illegal and I figure why chance tearing up a good old dump that runs, drives, stops and pulls just fine. I might load more soil in it when I move dirt short distances around my place, but that would just be crawling around in 1st gear.
I did have the king pins replaced when I had all the brake job done and now it pulls to the right a bit. Anyone think there'd be any problem if I just used a tape measure to line it up? I'm not going to be driving it all that much, but pulling like it does now will kill my front tires in short order and they are the good tires on it.
