Speaking of tacky steering wheels, back in my youth at work one day, just for THOT, I wrapped a co-worker's steering wheel with electrical tape...sticky side out....half lapped.

His reaction was well worth the time and effort! :D

Underneath looks great, bed looks super, all around a winner!

I especially like the plaid cloth seat....;)

Me thinks you did real good!

Thanks. Don't forget, that's all original. The original owner wasn't Scottish and didn't wear a kilt with his, um, twins riding bare back on the seat.

I just changed the oil and filter. Unfortunately, they gave me the wrong size Wix air filter. They gave me their "heavy duty" air cleaner for that engine and said a lot of bus drivers get the same filter. The diameter was okay, but it was only about half the height. It's about 4X the height of a 396 car air cleaner. Anyone know the Wix part number for that air cleaner?

Good grief! You didn't tell us it had the plaid interior! That doubles the value in my book. Had a 1976 heavy half ton Chevy a few years back with the burnt orange and harvest gold plaid interior-loved it! I still miss that one, and it wasn't nearly as nice as yours appears to be.

I still can't get over how clean yours is. Probably won't want to get it dirty!

Just kidding...congratulations on a great find. I hope we get as lucky in finding one like it.

I'm gonna wax it tomorrow and then pressure wash and undercoat the rest.

Hey, I'm happy for a 35 year old dump truck. Man, it starts, runs and idles like a dream! I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised by no smoking and good shifting with the low mileage, but you never know.

Really, I need that air cleaner, check out the rear brakes and look for a deal on 4 rear tires. They aren't shot yet, but the fronts are like new. Seriously, my wife hasn't even found it yet! :D

Very nice truck Dargo! Just don't wax it with anything from HF...;)

We used to use one of the tall heavy duty big block truck air filters to get a little more air into the engine. As tall as we could use and still close the hood. We would sometimes stack two different height filters if necessary to mait work. Your mention of the wrong size filter reminded me of that.

Now it's time to start thinking about the new bigger exhaust system-you know, the usual. Dual exhaust with turbo mufflers-not glaspaks-we're getting too old for that much noise. The wife would definitely know about it then!

Let's see-maybe an 8 track tape player??? CB radio??? The possibilities are endless...

Maybe you should just stick to the wax job!

Nice truck! You done good. That 366 is a tough engine. I drove a '71 C60 back in the mid '70's for a company I worked part time for while I was going to college. In the few years I drove it, the truck regularly carried 16-18,000# of steel. Five speed trans, two speed rear axle, 366 engine.

The 5.5" high filter on my 366 C60 is WIX 42122. Good motor, just make sure you don't rev over 4000. The "tall deck" 366 has heavy 4 ring pistons and low pressure valve springs that don't like revs. Does yours have an "overspeed" warning light and/or governed Holley carb??

Thanks so much for the Wix air cleaner number. I cannot tell you if it has an overspeed warning light or is governed by the carb; which is indeed a Holley. The only time I've driven it, it's had enough power to pull just fine with low RPM and the wide range of gearing makes it relatively easy to keep it pulling at low RPMs. The guy I bought it from drove it like I drive it. I feel you can't lug it so much that you lose oil pressure, but it seems to have some really good low end torque.

I know it's only a gasser, and an old one at that, but it appears to be exactly what I want and need since I won't ever haul big loads nor pull hard. I've had a lot of old equipment in my life and most has worked really well as long as I've recognized what the equipment was designed to do and take it's age into a bit of consideration. Again, thanks for the Wix numbers!

Nice truck! And with those low miles and condition I have envy going on.

I have a 366 in my 88 C7000 and I like it, 366s have forged crank and forged rods and only thing that will kill it is over-rev. 4000-4200 max.

I would reccomend scrounging up a set of factory service manuals-ebay, then crawl under the truck and write down the info from the trans and rear end data tags, also with the help of the manuals you can identify what brake setups you have front and rear so you will be able to buy the correct parts.

Mine has hydroboost and dayton front discs and bendix rear discs for example and an eaton-fuller 5 speed and 19k rated eaton rearend. There may have been 6 different combinations of brake parts for your year.

For brake, suspension, transmission and rearend parts check with places that sell medium duty truck parts.

Things for the engine and belts and hoses ect can be found at o reillys or napa they just may have to get out their books to look things up. Gates has a big book that will have belts and hoses listed.
