Ditto on the SCA.

Where was it driven for 104,000 miles? Is it truly a Florida ride or did it come down from the salt strewn wintery north?

Have the glow plugs been replaced? Can you get a quick oil analysis from Blackstone Labs? Does it have a CPS? (cam position sensor)

Looks good.
I dunno, it sure looks like it was used as described.

Thanks for that I will ask about the cam sensor.

That's a clean looking dually. I ran the numbers on NADAGuides.com, and got $9900 "clean" retail; $7450 "clean" trade-in. (it will vary, depending on your location)

I'm wondering if that data considered a manual trans.......that is a big deal. Not too many people will purchase that type
of rig, configured with that tranny.
I'm thinking the tranny not only diminished the towing capacity, but also the resale value.

If this looks like I'm drunk it's because I typeing this on a tablet, and abdroid tablet, it sucks

wow, 10k for an 18 year old 2wd truck? thats insane, but it does come with cool graphics. i'm a bigger cummins fan than i am a power stroker, but i wouldnt pay 10k for that truck with a cummins.

for 10k, you could buy an awefully nice 18year old or much newer medium duty truck that will run circles around that old thing

Robert,

Since you now him and he likes to negotiate, take your time with a slightly interested stance. Don't talk money till after the drive and then be no more interested. Let is slide a couple of days. There's probably not a lot of demand for that rig and you can work him around to the point you want to be. He expects to get worked and he is starting high. So give him what he expects.

Good luck! Nice truck.

And by the way, how ya doin? I've been missing your input on the other thread.

Manual transmissions on diesel pickup trucks raise the resale value. Also, the manuals from that era had higher towing capacities than their auto counterparts. 2wd, on the other hand, would lower resale...

My thoughts exactly!.
He's got it, I don't need it, I want it, but at my price....his is too high...I'm at about 60%...so It's going to have to be slow and subtle....with a smile and a pat in the back

the other thread...

I'm there, reading every post. We are very much enthralled with your thread. My thoughts are posted....maybe I should look again?...... and see whats up?

Really?
I'm surprised to hear that. It seems that a hydro trans is going to be considerably stronger and almost nobody drives a manual trans anymore.....except me.
I haven't owned an autotrans since the early 80's, when i owned a 1974 ford Maverick....monkey sh()t brown with a 225 inline 6.
That was the pinnacle of American automotive incompetence...or right next to it......Pinto.....Vega...... Pacer.....Hornet...Gremlin......

I looked for a year for the truck in my sig. All else being the same, the auto trucks were generally priced cheaper by a good bit. It seems that the ratio of manual buyers to available used manual trucks is greater than the same ratio for autos. Also, I see tons of threads at the truck sites for manual swaps, and many enthusiasts are stick guys through and through. New truck sales figures don't lie, but there are a lot more manual buyers in the used market.
