1st gen Toyota Tacoma question

I'm at work for a few weeks and am separated from my truck by a couple hundred miles. There's a good welder here and I was going to get him to make me a custom bracket to mount a CB antenna out of some aluminum stock.

Question is this. Can someone measure the length of the bracket that the tailgate latches into?

I found a nice mount on a Forerunner like this online but haven't found one for sale. You unbolt the bracket and put this CB mount in between it and the bed. I run a fiberglass camper and this is my best bet aside from drilling holes or getting a magnet mount. It would mount here, come out a few inches at about a 45 degree angle upwards and then have a piece of angle iron 90 degrees to the right or left, depending on which side, that the antenna mounts to. This way it clears the tailgate and the tail light.

What year model is "1st gen"? I don't think I have you you need, it's only a couple years old...

I've got a '99. 1st generation is '95.5-'04. There's very little variation in body parts for these.

I got a first gen.

So this piece goes under the lock mount, and uses the lock mounting hardware to hold it in place? What do you need, bolt spacing? width?

Got a pic? I can measure it up for you, but my trucks in the shop.. might not get it for a day or so. Pictures or a sketch would help me get the exact measurements you need.

I can't get the link to copy and paste, so I did it the hard way. This is what the guy bolted to his 4runner hatch. Mine will be vertical at the back and sandwich between the tailgate latch and truck bed.

It'd be the piece that the tailgate latches into. Maybe 3.5-4" long with bolt holes maybe 3-3.5" apart. That'd be great if you could get the length of the entire piece and I'll drill the holes at home so I can set the angle just right. And if you go that far, a distance from the bolt holes out flush with the taillights. It'd save me an extra cut at home.

Any other Tacoma owners here?

Heres what i got.

Bracket is 3.39" long

Bolt spacing is 2.64"

Width at widest point of latch is 1.22"
