For me, 100mi is WAY too far. As a tractor virgin you need some support closer by. Unless you need to run a 10ft brush hog or something similar I could not find any reason to upgrade from the MX4800 to the MX5200.

Sounds to me that something in the size range of the kioti CK 30 would be a good fit see if they have one when you check them out. As far as the hydro trans goes I am a big fan. I find it better for most of my uses. I think gear has some advantages when you're doing a lot of ground engagement like plowing or disking or maybe pulling a very large trees out of the woods. But the Hydro will work for those tasks also and I find it very user-friendly and great for loader work.

This may be the first time we've suggested going with a smaller machine. :laughing: 6 acres isn't very much. A tractor in the mid 20's to mid 30's HP will be more than enough. And if you go much larger you are going to want a separate mower. I have 4 acres and my 24HP JD 2320 is almost overkill (but I would never admit that to my wife). Once in a while you may run into something that would be a lot easier with the big HP tractor, but most of the time you will be glad you have a smaller more flexible machine.

A little less tractor and more money for attachments would be a better blend. This assumes the tractor is for home/consumer use on your property.

Moving 300 yards with a box blade is not a big deal you can do this with a 35 hp tractor easily.

I'm curious on the HST transmissions on both brands over the gear shifts. What are the pros and cons?

In the tractor sizes being discussed in this thread, probably 95% are sold with HST transmissions.
