2 cycle oil

I still have a stack of the non synthetic TSC branded 2 cycle oil, plus a quart of the valvoline 2 cycle oil. Slow using it as I only have a chainsaw, as my old weadeater gave out finally.. and my new weedeater uses straight gas..

Chris, I bought that 6 pack of synthetic 2-cycle oil and used one. Then I noticed that I still had one little bottle of the old Stihl oil, so that's what I'm running right now. And that gallon of gas may just last me the rest of the year. But when it's gone, I'll be using synthetic.

You always have the option of going back to the stone(?)age and using 30W non-detergent motor oil, which is still readily available; smoke and all

So it appears it works by protecting from corrosion caused by the water picked up from the atmosphere by ethanol laden gas.....it apparently doesn't do anything to prevent the gas picking up the water in the first place.*
Sure wish I could find somewhere to get gasoline without the ethanol in it for my power equipment and toys. I find many stations that lack the required posting, its the law here in SC they be posted on the pump if they have ethanol and how much, but I suspect rather than actually not having ethanol, they are just in violation of the law....sort of like the one near me that has a low price out by the road for kerosine but the pump is $.20 higher....told them about it twice now and they still haven't changed the sign, for over a month, again a violation of state law.




Around here I find that Shell, Chevron gasoline doesn't have 10% ethanol added. I use only Amsoil 2 stroke oil in all my 2 stroke equipment

There is a Valero station on the way into town which has a large YELLOW sign by the roadside stating "WE DO NOT SELL ETHANOL". The stations around here that do have an ethanol blend are supposedly the Mobil/Exxon stations and Cumberland Farm convenience stores(Gulf), and I'm not sure about all of the Mobil/Exxons'. I avoid them all anyway

Patches, Valero is about the only brand which I have never bought. I don't have anything against them, but the only ones in my area are the highest priced gas in the area. Nearly all my gas comes from Murphy USA (Walmart), Sam's Club, and QuickTrip, both because of the convenience of their locations and because they usually have the best price anyway. And I actually have no idea what refinery their gas comes from. But I didn't know there were any stations anymore that had no ethanol in their gas.

Bird; I'm sure that will soon be the case here also but to date, there are still some pure gasoline outlets here in the NorthEast, and I'll ferret them out, till they're history

i read something the other day about mixing like a pint of diesel into a gallon of gas that had 10% ethonal (ie reg pump gass) as to counter the effect of the ethonal for small engines with carbs not built for ethonal.

teh same would be true for 2cycle mix.

PS dont quote those amounts exactly, google it yourself....

I'm finding it harder and harder to find straight gas here in florida.. seems every pump I see is the 10% stuff now...

I guess I haven't kept up enough with all the news lately, but this story in the Dallas Morning News yesterday says, in part, "An energy bill passed in December required 9 billion gallons of ethanol to be blended into gasoline this year." And the Texas governor "asked the EPA in April to drop the requirement to 4.5 billion gallons because the demand for ethanol is raising corn prices for livestock producers." The EPA supposedly hopes to have a decision next month.
