2 post auto lift & tractor

The one my friend bought from Northern doesn't say Bend-Pack. I think his says Super Lift or Sup-R-Lift or something similar, I just know it is of poor quality, poor instructions, many sharp edges on metal, and not certified. It does the job of lifting, I just don't like it in my opinion.

I owned a foreign car repair shop with 3 bays and two of them had 2 poster lifts, a 7000# Challenger and I believe a 5000#, or possibly a 6000#, (I don't remember the second lift's capacity). We lifted everything foreign, and I'm talking some big Euro production Benzes that weighed like in like a Freightliner!
They are as safe as the operator, and working under them was cake.
Go with the proper electric setup. Forget using the tractor to drive the lift, you'd be better off using the tractor to lift the Beamer with pallet forks and set it on jackstands. Seriously, do it right the first time and get on with using the lift as designed.

I have a used FMC 12,000 lb. 4 post lift I want to install in my garage, does anyone have any idea where I can get the instructions giving the post spacings?? I can not find out where the lift was installed before so I can't measure the holes in the floor. Thanks Jim

Is there a data plate or manufacturer name on the lift? I did a quick search for FMC but came up with nothing that would help. If there is a Mfg. name they may have a site you can e-mail for info. That would be your best bet.
How are the 4 legs connected? Do they use cables to lift or is there a framework that connects the 4 sides? If it's a framework system then you may have to assemble it to figure the post spacing.

I have a Ben Pak 10,000 lb. so far happy with it. Went with 2 post cause easier to work on most things compared to 4 post most things are in your way. My tank holds 4.5 gallons in resevoir has maybe a gallon left when raised. I my self would not use tractor hydraulics on it. You do have to stand there and hold your release when lowering the vehicle. Now if you are going to put a tractor on there I think you need 4 post cause arms with 2 post might be tricky getting set right. My vote is also electric.

Another reason I'd want a 4-post unit if I had a place for one.

I have a 4 post grand 12000lb lift that I can put what ever I want on it from my cars to my lawn tractor. The rails when move in or out depending on the wheel base of the vehicle that I am working on, and if you have ever tried to put a tractor on a 2 post lift it is a bit tricky to get the thing lifted even.

I have a simple layout of measurements that I rounded up somewhere on the net that shows the width and lengths of different size 4 post lift. I can dig it up if you end up finding the Manufacture of your lift, The way I understand there is only a couple lift makers that build these lifts and others put there own labels on them so get a good look at it and do a visual search to see if any match and you might be able to find details that match your style lift

Good luck on finding the data you need! On a sad note, FMC used to be quite a conglomerate, having owned Linkbelt, Bolens, and made tanks and related equipment.
