SCB

I've never used it that way, but it's a good move too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When digging a trench, not only do I leave mine in gear, but I intentionally do NOT put the FEL down because I need to move constantly. I stay seated facing the backhoe, and reach behind me and push on the pedal with my hand to move forward another 3 feet. Dig 3 feet, raise stabilizers, move 3 feet, lower stabilizers, repeat. I don't climb down, move the tractor, then climb back up. The guys who put the FEL down must be just digging out a stump, because that is way too much trouble to keep raising and lowering the FEL while digging a trench.

well I guess I am in the minority her because most of the time mine is out of gear whilst digging with the BH. I have the sabilizers down and the bucket down to keep it from moving. If I need to move along (as in trenching) I lift the stabilzers and FEL and move myself using the backhoe. I have done the keep it in gear and reach around with the hand and move method too, most of my digging is on fairly level ground

I too do the reach around trick,to move.however i have trouble reaching so i get over on theleft side push the pedal with my left hand .push the seat switchs with my right.i have found the seat dont hold them when it is reversed. do this only on level ground, the seatbelt and rops cant help you if you aint using them.
one safety tip from my osha forklift driving training,NEVER MOUNT OR DISMOUNT ON THE SIDE OF THE MACHINE THE CONTROLS ARE ON. it only takes a couple of seconds to go around.
I use my atv and dump trailer to haul debri off [long distance],when digging ditchs.i leave IT in neutral, andpush it ahead with my hoe[after the landing gear is up]. i then move the tractor until the landing gear just clears the rear tire of the atv.perfect set up.
