I wasnt aware of that possibility JJ, My tractor while 57 hp is only 11 GPM. I have thought about the various options like a PTO pump and the like. I just dont like the Idea of running my 574 at a high enough RPM to get max output on the pump. The reason is, I can get better use out of the life of my tractor by using it as a tractor insted of a hydraulic power source. Nothing against anyone who does it that way, just think I could buy several small engines and pumps as opposed to rebuilding the diesel in my tractor.

I am sitting here with a busted knee right now waiting on surgery and for once in about three years I have time when I cant do anything but think. Got me rethingking a few of my projects that have yet to get off the ground. All I am lacking for a standard splitter is the correct valve and pump. I have everything else gathered up. This is item #2 of 4 In front of that is getting my bender converted to hydro because I will use it for various parts on the splitter.

Thanks again for the input.

I have the Powerhorse two way splitter with a two stage pump.It is truly an awesome machine and very efficient. As stated earlier,to realize it's full potential, you need multiple guys. One operating and at least two bringing and removing wood.Although I operate solo mostly,it's still better than a conventional design.True if the wedge only goes in a couple inches before the log splits you can just retract, but with two stage it only takes one or two seconds.I would be glad to answer any questions about it.
