Never had an issue with either holding its back blading position or fast dump (that i could notice). Sounds interesting and I will pay close attention next time on on it, to see if I can pick up on anything -

I'm coming into this late, but I had this mod done last summer, early, and the difference was dramatic. My dealer, JD Equipment, picked up the tractor, did the repair, and brought the tractor back, (round trip is about 25 miles) and didn't charge me a penny. I had about 100 hours on my 2305 at that time. Maybe I'm lucky to have an exceptional dealer, but doesn't sound very 'Deere-like' to me to try to duck the issue.

Glen

Hi Glen, did you get the fixed orifice solution or the needle valve? Could you possibly post a picture of your installation of this kit? Here's a picture of what my sales guy brought over for me today. He couldn't stay to install, so I guess I"m on my own

If I understand the Solution description correctly, I need to install this at the "bucket rod end circuit". Basically, I'll be restricting the flow of fluid out of the cylinder, which currently undergoes cavitation when dumping heavy loads.

Anyone have any thoughts/comments.

Do I need special tools. Looks to me like a crescent wrench is really all I need.

Hi ducat996, the problem statement on the JD Solution record # 35065 states that 'featherig or metering of the control to dump slowly will increase the amount of cavitation'. So rather than trying a fast dump, try it slowly.

Once the load is dumped, curl the bucket back up and see what happens. Or, once dumped, try to back blade the material you just dumped and see what happens.

Note: This only happens while dumping heavy loads. It was happening to me many times this evening as I was laying heavy sand down on the slope of a pond I am building

Gordnovo , please install the fix. and post pictures of the installation . and let us know what you think. to me it seems if it restricts flow out of the Cylinder. seems like it would make the bucket dump slow....:(

let ou know what you think and how it works....:)

Gord this kit you are showing i am seeing only one. is there 2 valves one for each side. like the one you posted? well there has to be. one for each cylender...:)

Gord , did you put the new valve in yet.
I would like to know if it helped or not....:)

Gord,
I don't see anything resembling what you show in your picture. Since the dealer did the work, I didn't see it happen, but I'm almost certain it was a fixed orifice that was installed, at least that's what was talked about when I talked to service about my problem. There was a service bulletin on this issue, but I can't tell you what the number is. If you like, I'll contact the dealer and find out what it was, and how they fixed it.

if regan is putting fluid to both sides of the cylender. how does it dump faster?

Regen takes the return oil from the rod end of cylinder when extending the cylinder to dump and instead of sending this to back to tank/drain it adds this back to the cylinder on the can end. This increases the total oil being sent to extend the cylinder causing the increase in dump speed.

That's Ok Glen, I'll get in touch with my dealer's service guys here. If it's not difficult to do, I'll take care of it.. if I need special tools, I'll need them to do it for me.

I've been so busy... using the tractor... that I haven't even had a chance to think about the cavitation fix. The 2520 is 3 weeks old and I've got 40 hrs on her so far. Tonight I used my box blade and graded the built up material around our newly dug 40000 gallon pond with my box blade, added a few large 900lb boulders on the edge of the sandy beach we installed yesterday. I moved a dozen or so railroad ties around my kids play structure and filled the area with about 15 yards of wood chippings. All this after a long day at the office. I can hardly wait to finish work and get home and let the real work begin :D:D:D

Later this month, I still need to spread another 15 yrds of wood chippings inside the centre tear drop of a circular drive we're in the process of building. I need to spread about 60 yrds of 2-4 " rock base across the unfinished side of our circular driveway, then top it with 20 yards of 1/4" down gravel. I need to get started on building a round pen in the back and bring in another 40 or so yards of pit stripping for footing then top it with screened sand. At some point soon, I need to spray the 10 acres for dandylions with my 3ph sprayer. I've got 10 large square bales coming in two weeks we'll need to stack in the hay shed with my quic-attach bale fork (that'll be fun!!). My wife wants to dig up and transport another 5 or 6 6ft spruce trees from our friend's tree farm down the road for around the pond. Oh.. and mow the 3 acre lawn (twice per week...with all this frickin' rain!!) At some point, I'll need to squeeze in the 50 hour service. This is stuff I have planned for June. There's an even longer list of tractor tasks for July! Let's just say I'm getting my money's worth out of this 2520. I can work at double the speed and four times more safely with this machine, compared to the 2305 (which was still a **** good machine, I might add!)

Also tonight, I discovered that the 12000lb drop leg jack on our horse trailer siezed up, so I need to source out a replacement and get someone with some welding expertise to help me out.

If I get to the cavitation fix before August, I'll be extremly surprised!

Hi Brad,

Here's the pond out our bedroom window. It's slowly but surely getting filled from all the rain we've been having plus with the running hose overnight. Don't know if you can tell from the pics, but those are mother of all boulders we moved into place :)

You're gonna love your 2520.. it rocks!!

Here are the boulders with my 9 year old daughter standing beside them, to give you an idea of size.

The one on the left was so girthy it didn't even fit in the bucket. I had to use the loader to rock it till it landed on top of the opening of the bucket. Only then could I lift it.

Ooops.. here are pictures. Took these from the bedroom window where I've been quarentined for the last day and a half with a bad cold. It's been raining the whole time.

/ 200 cx question #35
Ok.. did a part of the 50 hr service tonight so I installed the cavitation fix at the same time.

First impression: it's fugly! (see pictures)

It kind sticks out a few inches from where the male quick coupler connects to the tractor. Notwithstanding the dubious appearance, I hoped on the tractor and looked for heavy stuff to lift and dump.. this didn't take long in my yard!

I set the needle valve at approx 50% to see what it did to the responsiveness of the loader when I curled and uncurled. While dumping a heavy load quickly I did notice that the quick dump feature didn't work anymore (don't know if this actually a documented feature, or if it's a condition of the hydraulics under the strain of a heavy load being dumped). The uncurl motion seemed to be a quick, fluid, steady action, just like the curl motion. I timed the curl and uncurl at full RPM and got a count of 5 seconds on the curl and a count of 4 seconds on the uncurl. After a few heavy dumps, I tried to recreate the limp bucket syndrone/delay on the curl but could NOT. woo hoo!!! No more cavitation!!

So I experimented with the needle valve setting a little. I opened the needle valve up 100% open to see what affect that would have on the speed of the curl/uncurl and if the cavitation problem would re-appear. After much lifting and dumping, I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the 50% setting and the 100% setting (5 seconds curl and 4 seconds uncurl) So it seems that just having the extra fittings and the needle valve installed was enough to slow down the flow out the rod end of the cylinder. Even at 100% open, I could not recreate the cavitation problem (limp bucket/delay on the uncurl)

Second impression: it worked!

Verdict: The jury is still out on this one. I don't like the way the valve sticks out. I'll try it out for a while and see if I ever knock into it as I hop on from that side of the tractor. I may also to talk to my dealer to see if I can get the right size fittings to install the vallve up along the loader arm instead. I'll also see if I notice a big difference with not having the cavitation problem recurring again when I do loader work.

Has anyone else installed this fix with the 200CX loader? We'd all love to hear your impressions.

Regards,

GordNovo

Wow Gord. i am glad it fixed your problem. but i dont think i could have that sticking out like that. I know i would catch it on something around here...:( its just a block with fittings. i dont see why you could not mount it on the loader arm. where the hard line and rubber line meets...:)
seems like that would be a better place. i thought that thay made just a orphis you could put in the fitting to do the same thing. i dont know about everyone else. i do use my fast dump feture sometimes. i would hate to loose it. i guess you got to give up something to get something though.. thanks for the info. please keep us informed....;)

Chris....:)
