Thanks Terry...I've now bookmarked this site. Now my wife will really get excited when I print out all this good information. Her prerequisite for me in getting a tractor was I had to have a canopy...she's concerned about that shiny spot up there on top /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif that may get adversely affected by the sun during hot summer days.

One of the neat things with this super canopy... is you can install a CD player in the opening with deluxe speakers... and also use a headset for tractor/outside noise reduction purposes... as you listen to Jimi Hendrix or Van Halen or whoever your heart desires... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

The other is the running light package...

This canopy is a Class Act all the way... it is sharp... this is the model of canopies... fully equipped about ~~$950. + shipping +-...

I'm working with Mark now on the 4710, toothbars, and other add-ons. Mark's got real good prices. If he does this well with prices he's quoted me as he does with other customers, KC-Canary is well worth the drive from Cambridge or anywhere else in upstate New York for that matter. I appreciate greatly you pointing me in his direction. As best as I can figure, he beat one other local dealer (who sells alot of JD compacts) by at least $1K and another by $3K on total tractor package. One item he's selling me at cost. No wonder KC-Canary has won a JD Performance Excellance award.

I'll likely visit him this week coming up to ink a deal and will share "My 4710 Shopping Experience" in a future post.

This canopy looks great from the pictures. My only concern is I'll be getting the folding ROPS. I need this to get the 4710 into my garage. I know you mentioned in a previous post that you thought the folding ROPS would accommodate this canopy but since you've seen it do you think I would have to remove the canopy each time I folded the ROPS or could I fold the ROPS with canopy fastened and intact? It would get discouraging if I had to remove it each time I wanted to park the tractor in the garage.

Your thoughts???

This is the 165 hp rated Gearbox for the Brown Tree Cutter...
The weight of the gearbox alone is about 200 lbs...
It's as massive and intense as the rest of the machine...
(the hydraulic cylinders are used to open the rear doors of the cutter to "wrap" around a tree to chop it down with its four 5/8" thick X 6" wide blades... making contact 54 times per second giving it unmatched cutting ability...)

I wouldn't get the canopy then... if you plan on taking it on/off...

and if you left it on and were able to fold the ROPS down with it {canopy about 80 lbs w/o options...?}, I believe the front of the canopy is too long and would actually stick higher in the air than with the ROPS upright...

Unless you can modify your garage opening or make other arrangements and leave it up... I wouldn't get it.

But this is a beautiful piece that would certainly add value to any compact tractor... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That's exactly what I was thinking myself and what prompted the question...but thought I'd ask anyway.

Guess, I'll now have to get into some building modifications. This tractor purchase is sure getting expensive /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Visited KC-Canary yesterday and checked these canopies out. Looked at basic stripped down one that was on a JD4410...probably the same one that you saw at the NYS Farm Show...Mark mentioned he had it out there. 4710 basic version of the BuckTop goes for $430 at KC-Canary. Talk to Mark Brucker if anyone's interested.

My wife and I are still talking about it. $430 is more reasonable than the $950 you cited for the souped up variety. The only way we can see it being feasible is if we leave the 4710 out in the warm weather months with canopy in place and then take it off when I want to garage the tractor during the winter months. I've got time to decide on this.
