Like I say, all the new 2005, 2K and 3K have hydro-gear hydrostatic drives on them. Hydro-gear almost exclusively uses 50wt motor oils. Some of the pre 2005 2 & 3K series cubs had peerless hydro units (not sure which model years). Peerless may use an ATF looking trans oil, not sure. Never owned one. More viscous motor oils are typically used when the hydro drive & differential share the same lube, like most any lawn or garden tractor these days. Tuff-torq units (JD, simplicity, others) use 10w-30. )</font>
<font color="blackclass=large">No, my 3000 uses the new Drive System Fluid Plus, Synthetic Blend 737-3121. It is not reddish in color. The old Hy-Tran, used in the 1450, was reddish colored and was definitely not a heavy weight. The transmission and differential shared the same oil in the 1450.
