If you aren't supposed to crack the high side, how do you know if its flowing?

Also, do you agree that unhooking the FCA is how to test it? What if its stuck closed?

I've always heard that unplugging the FCA is the way to test it. You don't want to do it for long since I think the rail pressure goes sky high. The correct way to tell if you are getting fuel to the rail is a rail pressure gauge.

Found problem. The gear pump on the back that is in an aluminum housing went caput. So need a whole pump. I have pics but cable and internet is down and 1 bar of 3g ain't enough to upload. So I will do that if service comes back before the buckeyes play tonight.

Found a place in Findlay oh about 2 hrs away that has a reman for $730. Columbus diesel supply had one this morning, but sold it today:mur: and everywhere else has Cummins referbs for $1200+.

So I got to be in Findlay at 8am cause they aren't actually open but will have someone meet me there.

Be careful buying those cheap pumps. Make sure it has a warranty. I had issues with a cheap pump I bought on flea bay, the company had good feed back and I even called to speak to a tech before I bought it. Long story short it ended up costing me more to make it right than if I'd bought the higher dollar pump to start with.

The company is international fuel systems in ohio International Fuel Systems

Not a cheap pump, rather a rebuilt OEM one. Same as I would have gotten from Columbus Diesel Supply.

Here is the pics:

Well there's your problem.

I meant a cheap reman OEM.

What's the difference in the 730 referb and the 1200 refurb ? Aren't they both OEM refurb replacements ?? Any idea how the gear may have broken ??

Not sure why they broke. The places I talked to said that pump is a semi-common problem. Usually in colder weather with the possibility of moisture in the system.

The truck lives in a heated garage normally. Especially of I know I am going to be plowing. But I drove it to work planning to plow after, an it was near zero F when this happened.

Yeah I don't think that is a common problem but at least you figured it out.
