I just bought a used 2615 from a private sale. Tractor has 500 hours. I d spent about an hour today using the bush hog. At the end I was go up a hill with the bush hog on and the tractor started losing power, I was in 2nd low. I switched to 1st low and went up the hill but then then it started to die out on me again. If I stop the tractor and let it idle it revs up again and is good to go again. This happeded twice at then end of the hour of mowing.

Any suggestions or what I should be looking for/at?

Check your Fuel filter, Air filter, quality of diesel fuel you are using and whether it has any moisture in it. Any of these will cause it to bog down.

Sounds like a dirty fuel filter, if you see a little white smoke at the time it's bogging down you will also have some water in the fuel.

Definitely sounds like it's starving for fuel. Something maybe in the fuel tank? Don't know if this model has a screen in there. Might be worth a check as well if the above suggestions don't help.

Did you figure the problem out?

I have a 2615 and last year while doing some grader box work it started losing power, being my first tractor I had no idea what was going on. Put it on the trailer and took it to my dealer. He listened to it, went inside and came back with a quart of transmission fluid, poured it in the tank and the power was back. I now make sure I buy off road diesel, not the car diesel sold at most stations.

I'm not aware of any quality difference between off-road and "car" diesel. If anything the off-road is worse because of the red dye they put in it. It's cheaper because of the agriculture use non-tax.

The ATF has a detergent quality to it. He probably added it to help clean out of the fuel system (and also add some lubrication to the ULSD fuel).

If anything the off-road diesel lubricates better with the higher sulfur content. That is what I've always been told......(SHRUG)

   / 2006 2615 Question #9
No, they are the same fuel with the same sulfur content (< 15 ppm). Since ULSD is only available now, I suggest a lubrication additive. 5% Biodiesel is the best, then maybe 1 oz./gal. of 2-stroke oil. Store additives like Stanadyne, Power Service don't actually lubricate very well.
