Did it see the beach much? Be careful of salt water damage, I had to replace brake lines because they rotted out.
I think they were the 3.73 gears. Which would explain the difference. My diesel also had the upgraded transmission. What was your rear end gearing? I have no power problems with 4.56 gears in mine.
And then, no gas engine can compare to towing with a diesel. Why I own one of those too!
Have the spark plugs been serviced or are they the original plugs still in there for 14 years at 71k miles?
Good question, I do remember them having issues with removing spark plugs.
If they break when removing them it can be a pain to finish removing them (or $$$ if it's at a shop)
Gasoline engines have little low-down torque. For towing, you need that and not high-rev horsepower, and even smaller Diesels are better in that respect. When Mercedes owned Chrysler their 3 litre Diesel's performance in the Chrysler pick-ups was way better than the 4.7 V8 and only slightly less than the 5.6 litre V8, with 30-35% better mileage.I had one and it towed like **** compared to my '04 6.0 diesel. Just did not have any balls to move the truck let alone my 7k trailer. I know diesels are stupidly priced right now but if you don't plan on selling any time soon it might be worth the investment.
SOLID truck...selling my 2009 is one of my biggest regrets, that truck will pull anything a powerstroke can and do so with out all the emissions problems. BUY ITI need more towing capacity and there is one of these for sale down the road from me. 2008 f350 dually with the v10. I think it said heavy duty or super duty on it. Need to tow a 14k trailer. It's not an engine or truck I know much about. 71,000 miles and 21k$ owner said it was mainly used for towing a camper.
What do yall think?
