I have a 2008 JD 5303 4WD with JD 522 FEL.
One known issue is 3PT lift will after a few minutes begin “hissing” when lift handle is raised to full lift height. Bumping lever down a little makes noise go away, but will begin “hissing” again after a few minutes. Periodically adjusting lever position up or down makes noise go away.
Another observed issue is when dumping bucket and pushing lever all the way to the right to initiate the fast dump feature occasionally will hear a screeching sound until the joystick is released. Doesn’t happen every time, but seems to be more common when tractor is warm and has been used for some time. I also noticed in the past the loader wasn’t strong enough to lift the front tires off the ground. When needing to take front tire off for tire repair needed to use jack versus tractor hydraulics picking up.
Recently picked up a 2004 JD 5205 2WD with JD 521 FEL. I needed to repair one of the front tires and this loader easily lifted the front end. Recently used this loader to unload approximately 2000 lbs. of feed and it lifted it easily. Same load on the JD 522 FEL in the past would lift it, but I wouldn't say easily. Have at times heard the same “screeching” noise while trying to lift this load.
Within the past few months have completely serviced both tractors changing all filters, cleaning hydraulic pickup screens and replacing hydraulic oil. Any thoughts or ideas on what would make the JD 522 FEL seem weaker than the JD 521 FEL? Never really thought much of it in the past as always managed to complete needed task and just assumed the “screeching” sound heard occasionally was normal operation. Maybe it is unrelated to apparent limited lift capacity. Admittedly my hydraulic knowledge is very limited.
Any one ever experienced this or have thoughts as to what is happening? Maybe is just normal operation?
