2010 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel for towing-What can you tell me about it?

DP, a little off topic, but me and the wife own a 2011 300C and a Challenger. We owned a 2005 300C also. I liked the apperance of the 2005 better, but when we got the 2011, we noticed it rode much better and was very quiet compared to the 2005. And yes, it has plenty of power with the Hemi.

The steering is electric, so it does feel different. I personally don't like it as well, but my wife never noticed the difference.

I always thought the back seat was big, but I do find the door opening a little small.

You want a Challenger but its not practical? When did buying a car have anything to do with being practial?

Yea, I guess it is the door opening. I have driven the car two days now and it is now on my never buy list just for that reason. I went to Best Buy last night to get a 32" tv for my shop. I could not get it in the stupid door. I guarantee you it would go in the 3 series. I also took our 7 month old to the sitters and gettin her in and out in that pumpkin seat was like playing the old Operation game and Jinga at the same time. It killed my back. The pumpkin seat is also rubbing up against the drivers and passengers seats, something that does not happen in either of my extended cab trucks or 3 Series BMW.

Other than that its a great car. If they would just rob a few inches from the trunk the back seat and doors would be fine.

It was raining and blowing 40 plus mph in Indiana last night after dinner. No way your hauling anything in the bed. I am flying Tuesday till Thursday and I wanted to get this one on sale. I had to be at the hanger at 530 am today so I had to get it yesterday before they all sold out. Spent 5 minutes in the rain moving around the stroller, pack and play, diaper bag, ect so I could get it in the trunk.

In hind site I should have just taken the Titan. Its rear seat and front passengers seat all fold out of the way for a flat surface. I just wanted to drive this car some more plus its 50 miles round trip to town. Might as well put them miles on the rental versus mine. I would have never guessed it would not go through the door.

As far as getting kids in and out of the car, we had a Chrysler Lebaron when we had our first. It only took a few weeks gettting them in and out of the back seat of a two door a couple of weeks before we had a four door. Wait until the get older, they won't mind getting in the back seat as long as its a cool car. My kids encouraged me to get the Challenger, even though I told them they would be the ones climbing in and out of the back seat, but they also get to drive it on occasion.

Hey, they make minivans, they have a huge back door.

I would be a dead man if I suggested a mini van. I had a hard time selling her on a Ford Edge Sport or Jeep Grand Cherokee. We have a 8 year old and a 7 month old. Once they hit 3 or so they buckle themselves in. Just need to teach them not to make a mess and to keep hands and feet off stuff.

I originally had a 2005 dodge ram 3500 SRW long bed quad cab and it rode like a caddy compared to my 2012 crew cab 2500 hemi. If I put some weight in the bed it rode even better! I could easily sag out the one ton with my GN though unless I paid particular attention to where I parked my tractor. I could also overload the springs with some square bales on the trailer as well. (Hence why I upgraded from a pickup to a real truck) and kept the inline 6! There is no comparison to the amount of weight you can haul with a GN over a bumper pull. My father in law sold his 2500 Chevy gasser to go to a 3500 dmax dually and he said he will never look back. If you are planning at towing to the capacity with the truck I would recommend a diesel. My tractor weighs in the neighborhood of 12klbs and is all I wanted behind a one ton pick up. With my international, I barely even realize its behind me and its a pleasure to drag it around. Just need to get a bigger trailer now!


(rant) For the love of god. Can we not go into the cdl non cdl crap for the millionth time? If you don't have any idea about what is legal or not you should not be towing. (/rant) There has been multiple threads beating this to death. Every state interprets differently and everybody knows someone who gets away with this or does that. If you get caught doing anything illegal you get fined. Plain and simple.
