2010 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel for towing-What can you tell me about it?

I would add to the ride discussion, yes, when unloaded, my 06 Dodge 3/4 4x4 rides rougher than my friends 2012 3/4 4x4 Ford. BUT, when we hook up our campers, my truck rides almost level without the aid of weight distribution hitch whereas his Ford sags horribly. We have swapped campers before (trying to figure out if it was the campers causing his horrible fuel mileage when towing) anyway.. the results were the same. Ford has put horribly soft springs in the rear of their trucks in an effort to improve ride quality to the grocery store.

Same thing I said in another thread!
All our Ford's squat much more than the GM and Dodge trucks. The GM's actually ride better unloaded too!
Once loaded though, I feel the Dodge's have the best ride.

There must be a huge difference in the 3/4 ton Fords vs the 1 ton. I had 3,000 lbs of concrete in the back and it was enough to level out the truck, but not make it sag! That's one reason I want to get away from that truck. It's horribly over sprung.

For the most part, we'll only be using the truck when towing or hauling, otherwise we take her Jetta everywhere, at 42mpg it's hard not to.

Good suggestion on the long term test drive. I'm sure he'd let me take it for a week or more if I wanted to.

Ford has something like 25 spring packages between the F250/350. GM and Dodge have just a few each. So just because it says 250 or 350 on it does not mean much till you look at the GVWR. Some will never understand that.

My 350 is a tank also because I ordered it right.

Count me as one that will never understand why Ford sells a F350 with the same 10k lb GVWR as an F250. For those guys that just want a 350 badge but a soft ride to not stir the groceries...?

I agree. All 250's should have 10,000# GVWR. The 350's should be 11,500# with SRW and 13,500# with DRW.

You guys must have some sensitive wives. I got a '96 dodge 2500 that sometimes I have to check to see if there are actually springs under it, because it sure doesn't feel like it. The old lady has never complained, unless I go a little too fast over some unfamiliar railroad tracks and the truck gets a little airborne.

I will give you one more. Our BMW got hit again last week. Second time in two months. Me or the misses had not been involved in an accident since the 1990's when i got hit by a city snow plow truck. Last time it was a hit and run on Christmas Eve in a mall parking lot. This time it was a 86 year old man doing a illegal U Turn in a F150. Good thing is it now will have been completely repainted other then both passengers doors and the roof.

Our rental car we picked up Saturday. It a 2012 Chrysler 300. We drove it yesterday to Cincinnati to visit the in-laws. About 225 miles round trip. It has the Pennestar V6 and a 8 speed tranny. A little underpowered for my likings but love the ride and dash. I will say its the best riding car I have had the pleasure of driving. The lack of nav is disappointing but the controls and sat radio are neat. My one complaint is the back doors and seats are too small for this size car. Our 3 series BMW is easier to get the kids in and out of. The steering also feels funny at first but i got used to it after driving it for the day. The craftsmanship, ride, fit and finish, and overall feel is twice as any mopar I have owned or driven. I would love to drive one with a Hemi. A great car engine.

There, I said it. I like a Dodge. I have actually wanted a Challenger so bad I can taste it for some time now. Just not practical for us.

DP, a little off topic, but me and the wife own a 2011 300C and a Challenger. We owned a 2005 300C also. I liked the apperance of the 2005 better, but when we got the 2011, we noticed it rode much better and was very quiet compared to the 2005. And yes, it has plenty of power with the Hemi.

The steering is electric, so it does feel different. I personally don't like it as well, but my wife never noticed the difference.

I always thought the back seat was big, but I do find the door opening a little small.

You want a Challenger but its not practical? When did buying a car have anything to do with being practial?
