2010 went clank in the rear end, then went no where

Before anyone wants to hit the 2010 is a terrible tractor band wagon, don't. I'm aware of many of their less than desirable aspects. Only paid 1k for it, so we're not out much, but it's been a decent tractor till this

Only way to move foreword is to push the diff lock handle all the way out. Right side is not driving. Outside visual inspection offers nothing

You are talking about some 60 years old tractor so it must have been pretty good if it's still been used.

Sounds like it needs some rear disassembly!

Do both sides drive with diff lock engaged?
I would worry an axle broke and could come out.
I agree time to open it up

If the tractor wont move unless the differential lock is engaged, then by definition you have a broken axle.

Where are the filings from the broken axle going, into a filter or just floating through other gears and wrecking them?

My vote is failed differential pinion shaft(item 13) &/or gears in lieu of failed rear axle. Are you positive about model #??? JD 2010 didn't have option of differential lock.

It still means a rear end tear-down. I would much rather do that than a split. Still going to have some heavy parts to deal with though.
