I would just like to add that my 8 year old little girl thinks I should buy it because it says "Super Duty" on the tailgate. You have to love 8 year old potty humor.

Brian

PS. Does this mean I'm going to have to get a Ford tattoo now?

That would be quite the paradox.

Congrats. Make sure you update us on how you like the truck and how it's performing in the next year or two.

I think you'll like it.

I stopped and looked at the F450 again tonight. I offered them $37,000 with a 3 year/36K mile bumper to bumper extended warranty. They took the offer. I left them a $1000 deposit to hold it while I sleep on it. They showed me the Oasis report and it hasn't had any warranty work done to it. I'm not sure if that is good or bad. They didn't seem interested in doing the update on the EGR cooler under warranty before it actually failed. I'm still torn, I'm not sure what to do. I think the price is fair. I'm still concerned about buying a used truck.

Brian

I would say that the lack of warranty work is a positive thing personally. Make sure you get the newest computer flash performed on your truck as well. There is a new flash which is supposed to help your engine detect any oil or fuel related problems even sooner and send the truck into limp mode to prevent damage. People who have had it done claim that it has reduced the number of regenerations of the DPF as well. This update, while not called a recall is basically a recall by Ford to provide a free update to everyone who owns a 6.4. It can effect your warranty if you don't have it done too.

As a GM guy in general myself, I have been surprised just how much I like my Ford. I actually think the visibility and interior space is superior on the Ford, although there are still some things I miss about my Chevy. All in all, I'm happy with my 2010 F250 Powerstroke and I would feel just as confident buying a new Ford as I would a new Chevy. Good luck and enjoy your purchase.

The Aisin transmission is offered in all Cummins powered 2500-5500 models.
The 2011 4500 and 5500 currently have a urea injection system.

Last time I looked, which was about a year ago, the Aisin was only a available in the 4500 and up cab and chassis.

Aisin is available on 3500 and up cab and chassis. Regular 2500 and 3500 trucks have the 68rfe.

I stand corrected. I had been misinformed by my local dealership.
What are the benefits of the Aisin over the 68rfe?

The Aisin is more of a medium duty truck transmission, kind of like the Alison in the Chevy's. I wouldn't want a 68rfe Dodge transmission combined with a CTD, but buy the same token I wouldn't buy a Duramax combined with a 6L90 transmission. Today's diesel pickup engines need medium duty truck transmissions as far as I'm concerned. And for that matter I think that a CTD equipped Dodge combined with an Aisin transmission would be a real winner.

Well, I officially came to the dark side. I am now the owner of a Ford. I can't wait to get my gooseneck hitch in this thing, and see what it will do.

Congratulations. I too couldn't wait to hook my tractor up to my F250 when I first bought it. Now make sure that you get Service Bulletin 11B23 performed. It should be free of charge and will provide extra assurance that your engine will remain healthy.
