Again, thanks for the pics Brian. I'm probably a little behind times and I hope this hasn't been mentioned yet but was wondering. Since they've pretty much got the interiors looking like what the F150 started looking like back in '04 or so, I'm wondering why they haven't gone ahead and engineered the "center console shifter" in the FX4's and the Lariat-King Ranch versions? Has anyone heard? Seems like the trend is to get away from the traditional looking truck. Just a thought.... Also, I was pondering what kind of deal Ford made with the King Ranch to use it's name on their package and what old Captain King would be thinking!:)
Jay i also think it would be a nice feature, maybe it will be on the 2012 model. which should come out in November :D

I also just got a computer quote from my insurance company on a truck (my insurance company will give you a pre negotiated price on cars and trucks)
anyway the sticker was 57k, "dealer" was 49k and my cost was almost 47k
that was for a f250 6.7 lariat 4wd with some extra goodies. I still think i'm going to wait a couple of months before i buy. My 13 year old daughter is going to be starting privet school next year also so got to see what that is going to set me back.

Good point Jay on the center shift. I loved the one I had in my 07 F-150 FX4 and in my current Nissan Titan. Would love to see it adapted over to the SuperDuty.

I've got to be honest, I'm not a fan of the center console shifter. When I bought my current truck I looked very closely at and almost purchased a Toyota Tundra. Neither myself nor my wife liked the console shifter. Today I test drove a 2010 Crew Cab XLT F250 Diesel and I liked it. It sure didn't ride as smooth as my half ton but it wasn't bad, and was much better than my uncle's 2000 Dodge 2500. One thing that I didn't like about the truck and one thing that I would change out was the center console. The console was nice, but I prefer the fold down console as opposed to the permanently affixed console. Sometimes on long trips my wife likes to fold up the center console and kind of half lay down across the whole front seat so for us we prefer not to have a non folding center console. Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I really hope to be able to continue to get a column mounted shifter and folding center console.

I'm kind of suprised that the XLT package did have the center console. Surely they still give you the choice. I'd like to find out.

I am read the 2011 book right now and the xlt comes with 40/20/40 front seat, with 40 console 40 as an option.
The lariat comes standard with 40 console 40 but as an option you can get the 40/20/40 seat.

The one thing I didn't like about my 06 F350 KR was it had the 4 captains chairs seating, with the big center console in front and back. Problem to me is, I could load up those consoles with junk and never find em again, getting buried under everything else. And, I wanted the 6 seats for when I took family trips.
Sooo, I ripped out the center consoles, got 2 Lariat center seats, and had them recovered with the KR leather....and I love the setup. Wasn't cheap, but I love the console/armrest in front for long trips, and can still fill it up with junk - only when I open it I can see all the junk at once!

Got a chance to look @ a 4x4 Lariat '11 w/ the new diesel for the low low price of 60k!!!! Beautiful truck, but I refuse to spend that much coin for a pickup. Also, one look under the hood made me sick, with everything hidden and tucked away you are lucky to find the dipstick. Otherwise, a very nice vehicle.

After you take the cab off things get more accessible!

Just took a new f-250 crew cab for a ride today. Very impressed with the 6.2 gas. And the 6 speed tranny was also a big improvement, very smooth shifting. I am in the market for a new truck and have been focusing on diesels but with all the new emissions junk and the additional 10000$ price it's gonna be a tough sell.

That's good to know. If I end up upgrading to a different truck, it's going to have the 40/20/40 seating. Thanks for the update.

Well, I thought they were terrible looking online. Dealer got 8 in, went to look at them, and as it turns out, they're even uglier in person. It was almost closing time when we got there, and they were locked so all we could do was look. Now, as bad as the looks are on the outside, the interior is pretty competitive, but not worth the $62k price tag.

The problem I see, is that Ford is introducing too much new stuff at once, with both new motors, and a sorta new transmission, that gives you no way out to get something proven.

The one we focused on was a 2011 F250 4x4, crew cab, lariat, long bed, diesel. That had a price of $62k. Now, although I am a Dodge/Cummins man, this is too much. On the same lot (this is a Ford/Dodge dealer), you can get a 2010 Dodge 3500 dually, 4x4, long bed, crew cab, that has everything the F250 mentioned has, except leather seats and it had the wheels with just the covers on them, that had a $52k sticker. Keep in mind this is a bigger truck. They both had Nav. and other nice things, so they are both pretty hefty on the price, but the Ford is just terrible pricing.

We have been looking at trucks for the past 2 years or so now, and we have always leaned to Dodge. They have improved greatly in the last 10 years, and now that the 6.7l and Aisin auto are proven, it's even better. Now, our trouble choice now, is whether get the auto or the manual in a Dodge. The auto gets you an engine brake, and is probably as good or maybe even a little better than the clutch. But, with the manuals going out, in 10-15 years, when we sell it, it will be a special item that can no longer be found. That, and I love manuals:).
