Same here, my dad died in a nursing home after a long battle with cancer and all he could talk about was being able to get back on his tractor just one more time.

One of the men who farms our land is in his 80's and when he is not in the hospital or recovering from something, you will find him on a tractor or in a truck.

My dad spent the last two years of his life in a nursing home wearing a diaper and drool running down his chin, alzheimer's. I cried every time I visited him. There's much worse things than death.

On a different note I lost my 71 year old neighbor last month. Found him in the timber where he had been cutting wood. Sitting against a tree with his right arm up over his head like he was simply taking a break. Looked very content.

I think most manufacturers are attempting to make their dealers expand and take over territories. Our local JD AG dealer just sold to a nearby dealer who was expanding. JD told our local guy that he either had to buy more shops or sell.

I run a JD grader. We buy a new machine every 4 years. We have no choice as to what dealer we use. Murphy Tractor owns this area. You buy new Deere construction equipment here and it'll come from Murphy.

In that same regard I am told that our new local JD AG dealer is the only franchise in Missouri that you can buy a new JD highboy sprayer from.

i saw the samething happen here with auto dealers.we had 1 dealer buying up all the dealerships no matter what make they sold.an they ended up with 10 or 12 dealers.then all of a sudden they left as quickly as they appeared.

Alzheimer's disease is scary stuff, I lost my grandmother and uncle to it and sure know what you and your family went through.

As to your neighbor, always sad when someone passes, but as bigbull said, he went doing something he enjoyed.

Thats very sad. That would break my heart too. Death is a scary thing, not just your own, but your loved ones. If you could know when your going to die, would you want to? I know....

I have almost died a few times and don't fear it; no I really don't think I would want to know, but really don't know for sure.

My daughter is a nurse who worked in hospice care for quite some time and people handle it in many different ways. I have an acquaintance in hospice care right now, only in his forties and he is still sending out email jokes.

Kubota has the dealers in my area on a short leash. If I get a quote from one then I cannot go to any other dealer. I have 3 dealers in my area and I have to buy from one of them. I have tried dealers outside my area and have been told they will not deal with me and I must stay in my area.
Really sucks and completely eliminates competition. Soooo back to my original complaint. They give really crappy quotes on trades.:confused2:

2 out of the 3 are. As for JD they are all owned by the same monster company. Really sucks as there is no competition. Just bend o...! Big corporations like it because they have a lot fewer dealers to look after. Not good for the customer though.
