2014 Hay Season

Sounds like great yields per acre to me. I wish hay would yield that much where I live. foreman Etexas how much are you selling your rd bales for? Do they contain any Bahia?

Yeah does have some Bahia,can't get rid that stuff. I am getting $45 a roll,that's not delivered but the guy that bought the 105 I helped with 3 loads. He started out just won'ting the 40 until seen the hay

I've heard that for $20 per acre that Pastora will get Bahia. Have you ever tried spraying Glyphosate(12 oz/acre) right after baling?

We use spray for it but just a losing battle with it,so now just deal with it

Just got done with the third cutting. All rolled up and in the barn. This time, I had 83 rolls (4x5) from the 52 acres.
238 bales for this season, so far. That's almost double what I got last year. (125 total for 2013)

Now, if we can just get some rain in the next few days, there should be some more next month.

Joey it has been been great hay year that's for sure. When I get back from vacation next week I will be going after the 3rd cutting on one pasture and 2nd on the the other,total of 55acres and no telling get rain I may be doing the one just got off again,it's greening back up.

That's great!!! Here's the difference in the areas .. I just rolled 38 rolls 4x5 off 19.83 acres.

BTW ... Pastora will kill the Bahia

we are going to cut a 40ac meadow and a 15ac meadow next week.then we will be done baling hay for the year.

I baled around 19 acres yesterday and got 46 4x5 bales. This is the third cutting on this. Should get one more. Lot better than last year when it rained like 30 days in a row.

We got the folks who put the fertilizer out to put something in for the Bahia but driving from one pasture to another truck/atv/utv, running cows on meadows, the baler/cutter/tractor,neighbor mowing,birds it just ends up right back in there,so stopped doing it,didn't justify the extra cost. The stuff is everywhere around here and can see a lot of places/roads the Johnson grass is doing the same. I seen them spraying the interstate to kill the Johnson grass.

Right now I'm glad for the fields that have Bahia .. Bermuda fields are suffering, I'm going to plow two of them this fall plant to wheat for spring wheat hay and then thinking about some form of hay grazer
