2015 HST glow plugs burning out

What would be wrong with a dash mounted pushbutton, running say a five dollar starter relay and running the glow plugs that way. Who needs a two hundred dollar controller? If I had a simple switch like that, the plugs on GMC duramax wouldn't have failed one by one either!

It could be argued that is an improvement. Following heavy amp draw of glow plugs and starter,alternator charges at max capacity to recharge battery. High amp charging effect's alt life more than lower charging. Over time as alternator output decrease's,the tractor must run longer to bring battery to full charge and we know where that eventually leads. Glow plug life also depend's on hours they are on. The only reason I've been given for not running plugs after engine start's is to prevent smoke. IDK if anything negative happen's to engine as result of smoke. If so,you can always hold the switch on a while longer after engine fires.
Good idea Toys but I should warn you that here at TBN, one single aw shucks wipe's out ten attaboys. :laughing:
