Karen shot her first whitetail deer today. Third year out there trying and it finally happened. It's a nice young buck with a total of three points. Tomorrow morning I'll drop him off at the meat processor. She said she wants a roast for Christmas!!

Have your processor do bacon wrapped filets from the backstrap. Shellie loves 'em. In fact, she has to consider if each person is filet worthy, because she won't cook them for just anyone. She wants each of them to be fully appreciated.:laughing::licking:

Venison roast is awesome. I just cooked a lamb roast on Saturday from my buddies daughters FFA lamb project. I made a marinade from Dijon mustard, white wine, fresh thyme and salt/pepper. You then make a gravy with the leftover marinade and drippings from the roast along with some sherry. I'll do a venison roast this weekend with the same recipe.
