Do you have it set to use Wifi for software updates? My son's Escape had a message similar to that at every start, and we turned off that Wifi setting to fix it.

Yes, but then his Escape software would never get updated? Seems that the sales gal had told us we needed to have it updated.

We use the Ford website which tracks recalls, Sync updates etc. He's only had one update listed in the past couple years, and we couldn't get it to update over wifi successfully. So we just down loaded the update to a thumb drive and did it that way during a drive somewhere. That's what I've done for my F150's Sync updates, and it works fine. Depending on the update size, it takes 20 - 40 minutes (could be longer if you have maps) and you can't turn off the engine while its processing. It's a fairly easy process, but it reboots the system several times and you have to wait till it's done and then it loads a file to the thumb drive. You take that drive back to your computer and upload it to the Ford site after logging in, so they know the update was successful and can tell you when/if another is available some day. I just connected my phone went to the ford pass app on the phone and to settings/updates on the Ranger display and then it checked for updates and said there was one for January 10,2020. The app (after you load you vin # and your ESN sync #)gave the option of downloading free (time 1.5 hours) or for $40 a flash drive. I opted for the flash drive.

Got the map update flash drive today. Says it wii take 60 minutes to load. I’ll wait for my next road trip to load it.

Ya, we turned the annoying "you need to be connected to available wi-fi" notice off by shutting down the updating thing. Not sure what we'll do about updates. Thanks to Don and everyone else for the suggestions.

We still have plenty of snow here and coolish weather and our mileage is staying close to 20mpg. It also gets warmed up now and then. Does that help the mileage?? Any new ranger owners here??? If so, do tell us what you like, or don't on it.

I have updated the Maps and software in my 2019 Ford Ranger. I opted to buy the USB flash drive and to install it during a road trip. It took 80 minutes to update the system from the flash drive. There were no problems installing it and now I have:
SYNC3, software version 3.3 (see screen shot below)
