Looks like a nice machine. I have been looking, and the SX seems to be the right size for my needs.

The one thing I don't like is that it don't have power steering. I realize you can get
aftermarket power steering but it ain't cheap. Do you find it a problem?

Thanks
Dave

It’s definitely tough steering, but for my needs I don’t find it a problem. I’m not making lots of tight turns and makes me more aware of turns on the lawn

My 2011 Mule 4010 has power steering. I thought all of them had it?

Depends on the model. Kawasaki is offering models without PS for a lesser price. Then offering same model with PS for more. Then standard with PS on other models.

Does anyone with a Mule SX have battery issues? Ran a northern tool sprayer off the battery as directed, and the battery was dead in less than two hours even with the Mule running the entire time. Charged the battery up to full, and then I used it yesterday for 10hrs by itself towing a trailer full of dirt turning the Mule on and off throughout the day (since it’s an air cooled engine I didn’t just let the engine run while I was stopped) and the battery is dead again...can’t imagine the starter would kill the battery when I was running the mule back and forth to the dirt pile.

I don't have the SX, I have a FXT pro. Had it about 5+ years now and use it a LOT for short trips (think 100's of feet), shut it off, restart it later and do the same and put it away. Have the org. battery still in it and have used it to spare a BUNCH of times for at least an hr and never had the slightest issue. May want to meter the battery when it is running to see if it is charging. Could also be a bad battery.

I'll bet your FXT has a larger battery than an SX

Those are little itty bitty batteries and it is possible a lot of starting cycles might drain them. I have a new 2020 SX and so far so good. I ran my sprayer for over an hour and it worked fine.

BTW, I put mine on a Battery Tender when I am finished using it. I use it for a lot of short runs and worry about it getting enough run time to keep the battery charged. I have thought about putting in a larger battery. I did that with a two Polaris UTV's I had and it worked well. I used a deep cycle battery on the one with a winch.

I have a 2013 kawasaki 4010 mule. Never a single issue. My neighbor has a chinese made massimo that blew head gasket at less than a year. Was at dealer 4 weeks to get repaired.

I just realized that I'm still on my original battery for my 2011 4010 TransMule. I've gone through 4 batteries on my riding mower that is just a year older, and is parked next to the Mule. I'm kind of amazed!!!

Good thoughts, thanks. Got a trickle charger I’m going to do the same since mine use is a lot of short trips / work too. Thanks

you can also just carry a deep cycle style (boat) battery in the bed and run sprayer off of that using some type of connector that uses battery post clips and a cigarette outlet. that way you wont drain vehicle battery at all.
