I never did understand why older people or those with health problems would move to a remote place and be far away from a hospital, which is usually only in a large town!..

I’m sure you don’t......

I stay as far away from both the hospitals and the large towns as possible.. and am glad that there are those who want to cluster together in their apartment dwellings that is akin to living in a motel... no thanks.
If I live in the country for fewer years because I didn't make it to a hospital in time, then there will be fewer years living in a care facility hooked up to some hoses and wires...
Wake up in the morning and not hearing people moving around or vehicles running, but only the critters moving about and the birds singing is where I want to be at 81. Also sit when possible and work from a stool on wheels.. like re-habbing this JD running gear. New bearings, grease seals, and grease.
One bearing fell apart and don't think ever been greased since new in 1955 when it was built.

there are somethings that are unimaginably painful, a heart attack, and broken bones for one. you'd have to suffer until you die.. which could be hours..

Can't plan if/when they happen, and moving next to a hospital thinking they just might happen... NOT! and dumb IMO

I've been here since 1975 when I was 32, that's hardly older. It's not like I just moved here, and I haven't got overwhelming health problems, I keep up with what I have to do. It's just that I'm wearing out and at some point I'll have to give it up, but not until then, I do whine a lot though. The longer I can keep moving, the longer I'll live. Not going to go sit down and give up. That's what my dad did at 55 and he died at 62. I've got 15 years on him now.

Anyhow, I need a bit of help getting the radiator situated to get the bottom bolts in, once that's done, it's just a matter of hooking everything up and hoping it works.

Nearest hospital here where the rescue squad wants to take me is crap. I was there once when I passed out from bad meds. No more. I go to a UVA hospital that's a bit farther, but just as long to get to. But, yeah, the more you can stay out of them, the better you are.

I found out that the fan blade has to be on, it can't be installed after the radiator. Have to have the shield on also pushed back over the blades and finally install the radiator/oil cooler last. I'm waiting for some help, I need help getting the bottom bolts lined up. I can't do it laying down under the tractor. I can get one but not the other. After that it should be a piece of cake. I loosened the alternator to get it out of the way as much as possible. The bottom hose from the hydraulic cooler was a bear getting off and the new one back on. That took me longer than anything. The shield nuts on the new radiator were also metric. I drilled them out and tapped them for a 1/4-20. At least the shield holes line up.

This is worse than working on the Norton M/C and I didn't think that was possible. When I work on the Norton, a lot of the tools end up in the next county. I have to be in the right mood otherwise.

I hope you can find a helper.
I am usually a "one man band". When I put ROPS on my 2030, I needed a helper. I could not hold the nuts and torque the bolts at the same time. I got a 20 year younger friend to help. He insisted I hold the nuts with a wrench and he pull the torque wrench. Afterwards he said if I ever take it off and have to have help again, he would hold the wrench on the nuts. I can't remember the torque ( I could look it up), but there were only 8 bolts to tighten

Wife was going to help this morning, but she was busy, so I found a way. Move, block, move block. The radiator is in and the shroud had to be re-drilled as the aftermarket holes really didn't line up. Lunch break and foot break plus a bit of wine to relax, so it's just a matter of hooking up the hoses and clamps and hoping nothing leaks. That shroud is a real pita. It gets in the way of everything. I stuck a piece of cardboard in front of the fan so could install the radiator without whacking up the fins. Pulled it out later after situating the radiator. Then maybe I can pull up all that gravel that's at the bottom of the driveway from all the gully washers we've had.

Does it really matter what kind of antifreeze we use these days? There seem to be 'works with all' types now. I might just run water in it first to try to flush out all that stop leak. Not like it's going to freeze this month.

Ahhh. Done. No leaks that I can see. Water stays up at the top of the radiator which it never did before. Temp came right up but only to 160 or so. I should probably get a new 180 thermo. Some of those hose clamps are a bear to get to, like the bottom hose. Now I should get motivated and clean up all the panels and put them back on. I think that's a bigger job than the radiator, all the panels.
