Hmmmm I have a 2015 X5, the 3.0L gas version. Generally disliking the vehicle as well, regret buying it, but I am getting 32mpg with mostly highway driving.Today I'm thinking of just going minivan. She has more dogs and more shows and lessons to go to these days...and what you say about jellybean style rings true.
But the BMW is getting 30 mpg from the 3.5 L diesel and as much as we dislike the car we love the economy.
When my wife was searching for a SUV years ago, she went with the Pilot over the Highlander due the Pilot having more room for the grandkids in the back seat, than the Highlander. I didn't like the controls, knobs etc in the Pilot as I felt they were too small and felt flimsy. But it was her car and is what she wanted and she got the Pilot. Of the two, I lean towards the Toyota as they are very trouble free and they haven't given me any issues on the rare occasions I have needed service.
