2022 Outlander Max 6x6

You can hear (and see) him engaging it when he can't get out of that ditch. 👍 It seemed to be the difference of getting out or not. Loads like a log trailer are tough, they apply very little tongue weight to the towing vehicle and even the added traction of the tracks wasn't enough.

^ I was thinking the opposite (agree he is using it to adjust tongue weight). I think he had a bit too much w sticks and weight of the loader apparatus on the tongue. Engaging the wheel acted like weight distribution hitch allowing the front pods to pull better?

(Especially pronounced when he entered that dip)

Nice set up, makes life easier.

These ATV/UTV's suffer from a power to weight ratio being lightweight with gobs of HP. Perfect for their primary purpose but it tapers off quickly towing a trailer that weighs as much as the towing machine.
On the opposite argument there's not another machine that would get in and out of there short of a 15 ton+ forwarder with 6 or 8 5' tall tires and 10-11' wide.👍
The hydraulic drive is available for the larger forwarding trailers that are pulled by 100hp+ 4x4 tractors, so it's not just a atv thing. Just a hp/weight thing in a very poor traction and soft working environment.

No arguments here, it clearly needs the assistance in the way it is set up

I don’t recall what arly said the pods and 6x6 set him back but with that trailer on top of things it may be time to just cut up those branches where they fall

Wonder what the trailer hydraulic wheel assist motors add to the 8k+ price?

I looked at tractor sized models (very briefly😆) and it was an option.
You have to be making a living with these or burning a heck of a lot of firewood to justify the purchase. Now if I had lottery money they're a very cool toy! I do keep an "eye" out for a good deal on a used one.

I wanted one for use behind my tractor for years, but just could not justify the price - especially when you look at sizes appropriate for use behind a compact tractor. The price is significantly higher than the already steep price for a unit like what is shown in the video.

Several years ago, I saw one come up for sale used a couple of hours down the road from me and jumped on it. This one had a hydraulic winch option, but did not have the hydraulic drive. It had maybe 50 hours of use on it and looked new. I still could not justify it at 60% of the cost of a new one, but bought it anyway. I've never regretted it

Do start a new thread about this trailer. I'd like to hear and see more about it. (y)

There are a few posts about it in the "tractors and wood" thread. You might find them by searching for "Metavic", since my trailer is a Metavic M95.

I suspect mine would not be of interest to most ATV/UTV owners, since as equipped the loader and trailer probably weighs close to 1500# and the load capacity is 6000#. (They do make a lighter version targeting ATVs.)

At 7m00 on the video you see him adjust something and the trailer wheels start turning on their own; it's probably a liability until it's required (my guess is there's no diff and it doesn't appear to be able to be throttled from the driver's seat) so they keep it disengaged until it's required.

Our dearest outlander is still at the delaship awaiting parts. Doing some research, might have a long term fix for the propeller shaft grief anyway.

Ugh, thought the stiffer boot was the optional fix?

Arly is this still the first breakdown or a 2nd "event"?It's got to be frustrating.
The 1st time the dealership fixed it and it last about an hour. We are not awaiting parts for the 2nd repiar and this is the last BRP will fix this particular grief under warranty. I have no confidence it will hold up.

I'm not certain MI has a lemon law but we'd not apply it anyway. We love every other aspect of this machine and there isn't a replacement that is better. The Polaris version has about 55hp compared to Outlanders 80+. Seems that Polaris is ending there 6x6 production anyway. Nonetheless, seems we have a fix for this front propeller shaft greif but can't apply it untill the warranty is over with.

It might but when it fails, these tracked machines are god awful to get back in so I'm looking at "extra" shaft security. The last time it failed, it took me a week to find someone with a machine that could tow it in. I should add we are looking for another tow machine so as to have a back up. Once you have two, then they never breakdown again. :ROFLMAO:
