2022 Spring Garden

At this date there’s still a probability of more cold fronts and freezing temperatures but I’m going to plant tomatoes tomorrow and protect them with walls of water protectors. In past years, my tomatoes have survived temperatures in the mid 20s using walls of water.

My back was one of the reasons I haven't fooled with a garden but I got mine fixed last year. So far so good on the early planting. Corn is beautiful as are the potatoes.

It is just getting out of the 30s and into the 40s at night around here. Days are still in the 50s, not much for planting outside. Very cool spring.

We just had a string of days with snow, not cold enough to stick as it would melt right away. then had hail two different days that was an inch deep and melted. Conditions that have helped with soil moisture content.
Yesterday had a half inch of rain.

Things are growing very good and greening up. Have all the cold weather crops planted. waiting for end of May for warm weather planting.

Making a furrow on top of the rows with the middle buster and using my EarthWay 1001-B seeder to plant G90 sweet corn!

Your ground sure works up nice, hope your gardening endeavor gives you lots of produce.
It’s been very wet and difficult this year to get the garden ready for planting, but I was able to finally get it done. Besides the ground being so wet, my back barely allowed me to get it all planted. All I’m doing is sweet corn and cucumbers. I couldn’t handle anything else. (And I’m only 37)

Before planting tomato seeds, I always warm them up. Then I do seedlings. Seeds treated in this way give friendly and strong seedlings. There are several methods for warming tomato seeds, the most common of which is heating in the oven or on a radiator. To protect against temperature changes, I try to choose a place on a slope with almost no wind. But I use Agricultural Netting to increase protection from gusty winds in the spring. In Theme agricultural mesh protects from heat and sun, e in summer, especially during morning watering.

Interesting. What temperature do you set the oven at? What does warming them up do? I start mine indoors in drink cups since we have such cool springs (high of 59 today).

We got to 70 degrees today. Now that the days are getting shorter. 🥴
