Oil & Fuel 2130 fuel pickup problem

It sounds like the tank will have to be cleaned.

That is what I am thinking. Anyone recommend a cleaner to put through it? Or am I better off removing?

So I managed to clean as much gunk out of the tank as I could. New sender and gauge turned up, fitted, it reads opposite. Have about a quarter of a tank of new juice in and it reads three quarters. Pull the float up it reads empty, push it all the way down it reads full. Ran a new sender wire as the old one showed high resistance, sender only goes one way. Ps this is aftermarket as genuine is NLA. Dodgy sender or have I got something wrong?

You mentioned new gauge, in addition to sender. Did you connect black wire to S terminal of gauge? Maybe you have the gauge wired backwards?

Jim the dealer told me that. Maybe not available over here? Not sure. I wonder if I can get one sent from US? Zebra, this gauge has B battery, T tank, and earth. My original black wire has the voltage? The wire from gauge to sender is light blue white stripe? Looks to be original wiring. I replaced that wire between sender and gauge as I was getting high resistance and only 4.3 volts at the sender end of it. I was reading earlier that the float could be mounted the wrong way and may need to be turned around. Am going to check that when it gets light.

Thanks Jim. I pulled the sender apart and put the float and arm up the opposite way. They are all cheap made in India stuff here aftermarket so maybe they had it in backwards. Anyway it works now, not as good as full to empty but from the red area (empty) to full reads. Missing about an eighth of a tank in the red empty area but if I got that low I would be sucking gunk in again anyway. Is the part number you guys quoted still a vdo gauge? Would be good to get a proper vdo gauge to match. I am kind of ocd when it comes to that sort of thing.

On my 2030, the fuel gauge bounces so bad when the tractor is running it's hardly usable. I check my fuel level before cranking the engine and fill if below 1/2.

I’d dump in some biocide in your fuel to in case of algae.
